Just back from Black Adam. Nephews of 8 and 13 enjoyed it good fun. Better than I expected

Reviews have savaged it. Really don’t like DC movies general vibes. Will watch when it’s on tv.

I'm off to see The Exorcist on 35mm at the Prince Charles this afternoon. Excited!

Nice! I saw it at the cinema about 20 years ago, such a great film.

The Exorcist is an all time great. Seeing it at the cinema is fucking intense, really different experience to watching it on a little screen.

Yeah I love it, never seen it at the cinema though! I'm tempted by The Shining tomorrow as well but I've seen that fairly recently.

The Exorcist was so good on the big screen. I keep forgetting how irritating other people watching horror films at the cinema can be though. Constant laughter throughout all of the most intense/ inappropriate scenes. Maybe I'm just a miserable fuck though.

I remember people laughing at the 'worst' scenes too. Maybe nervous laughter, but also derisory laughter, I assume at the dated FX (which is weird to me as I think they still slap)

This is a risk with the PCC unfortunately. It is a great little cinema, but some of their customers are noisy performative dickheads. I can’t remember which film it was I went to see there that I walked out of part way through as I could no longer bear the “isn’t it hilarious how ironic I am” braying emanating from the row in front of me, but it was either leave or start kicking seats.

I think it was a combo of both in this case. I know I'm not the one who gets to decide how people enjoy a film but it did really get on my tits. Middle aged before my time.

Smile was better than expected. If you like It Follows you'll probably like this (although not as good imo). Ending was quite cool and was good to see in the cinema.

I did a culture and went to see some short comedy films last night, some were pretty good and pretty funny in parts, a Spanish one about baldness called Calvary and an Italian one about having to pay the bill before your friends called Offro Io were probably the best.

Going to see it later!

I saw Hostel with a video Q&A with the director afterwards at PCC when it first came out.
The rest of the audience seemed to be incel gore bros clapping and guffawing at all the most gruesome scenes.
That screening cemented my dislike for anything in the "torture porn" genre, mainly for the audience it courts.

I mean it's no master piece I was fully expecting a total turkey but its OK.

The Batman
Long and not holding interest
Watched 90 mins last night and couldn't face the same again.
Will carry on tonight, but only out of belligerence -

Its easily half about too long, I watched it all but was bored. It has some nice bit in it but it defo doesnt beat Nolans series.

Today's viewing - Hotel Transylvania and Possession. Hell of a double bill.

Watched Midsommar for a second time. What a blast!

Kind of a similar vibe, I just watched The Witch (vvitch) for the first time. Slow burner but the last 15 mins or so sure were weird.
-
• #19372
Yeah that stands a second watch too

Argentina 1985 is the best film I've seen in a while. Essentially a court room drama following the prosecution of the Military rulers who terrorised Argentina during the 70s and 80s.

I’m really enjoying rewatching Tenet, score is pleasingly oppressive

“Temporal pincer movement” has to be up there with “mimetic poly alloy”
The massive screen definitely added to the enjoyment. Managed to catch it in the local iMax.
Seeing it on a TV was still good though.
