I enjoy F&F also for what it is.
I remember reading a really interesting article about how waterworld shaped the way studios produce and market films. If I find it again I’ll link it but it’s interesting to see the impact that one film that was seen as an abject failure had such a large impact on the way cinema was produced.

Autocorrect.
Thanks though.

Ha, I didn't realise Autocorrect even does names. I suppose it fits with its general air of presumptiveness. (I always switch it off in everything where it's an option.)

Waterworld is one of those films that I stop whatever I'm doing and watch on TV if I see it's on. So many rumours that bang around on why it cost so much. An excellent understated performance from Jack Black, jet skis, bungie jumping, big explosions and a weekend end at bernie's style reanimation of dead bodies scene, perfect combination.

I'm watching Showgirls.
It's fantastically awful. -
• #16439
It's a satire

I think the hot tub scene did the opposite to my sexuality than the waterworld sideboob.

Starfish: Young woman travels to a small town for a funeral of a friend, when she wakes up after sleeping in her dead friend's house the town is deserted and somebody on walkie talkie contracts her saying they knew her friend and she can help.
Mix between a monster and dealing with grief movie, too hipster (grumpy old git) for my taste, didn't quite work for me, but at least it's original so give it a go if you like the trailer.

Watched Da 5 Bloods tonight, Spike Lee doesn’t disappoint. The film covers so many issues it’s hard to keep up. It was just a shame not to be able to see it on the big screen.

Upgrade... Weird low budget but nice looking future-biotech-shock flick, worth a watch if you're stuck...

I'm powering my way through the Pirates of the Carribbean series (inspired by the We Hate Movies podcast, who have done the same recently)
They are dross. -
• #16447
Yeah Upgrade was good.
Also +1 for The Vast of Night, struggled to follow the dialogue for the first 10 minutes or so but once it got going really enjoyed it.

Vast of Night - Brilliant. I'm annoyed everyone who made it has no other credits to watch.
Da 5 Bloods - Like a big budget radio 4 afternoon play. Everything's laboured and two-dimensional. Really bad.

Gave Da Five Bloods about 30 mins before giving up

I love We Hate Movies. Not got round to any of the Pirates Of The Carribbean episodes yet!
Ah must have my wires crossed. I recall a film finally breaking even getting in the press and had recalled it as being Waterworld.
Nothing nice to say about transformers but I think F&F deserves a little more credit.
