Dead Centre: Low budget horror movie where a man comes back from death, and clearly not all is well. Not bad.
Fury: Bit frustrating as between the bad dialogue / movie logic scenes there are also interesting moments like the dining scene and the final shootout is both ridiculous and fun to watch.
I also have colour out of space...I love the original story so may need a drink for that one to enjoy it for what it is... :)

Knives Out: meh

Tomboy - Michelle Rodriguez wears a fake beard and penis, then gets gender reassigned against her will, then goes on rampagemageddon.
Much worse than you expect. -

The Vast of Night, interesting low budget Twilight Zone inspired sci-fi.

Try and get the 2010 German version of The Colour out of Space, loads better than the Stanley/Cage version.

Good point, I had read about it on imdb and then forgot about it.
BTW, In the mouth of madness is a decent Lovecraftian movie.

I need suggestions for decent hangover films, preferably on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Asking for a mate.

Recent daft watches:
Total Recall - pure Verhoven goodness.Waterworld - 90s nostalgia trip, love the design and vibe, can’t escape the feeling that it must’ve cost so much to make. Well good fun.
Conan the Barbarian - hilarious early Arnie entertainment. And wicked animatronic snakes.

There was a sideboob bit on the VHS of this we recorded off the TV when I was younger that was definitely more used than the rest, does the rest of the film still hold up?

Lolol. Would rep.
I really enjoyed it, almost completely unironically. It’s good fun, the world and all the things in it are great - the set, concept, costumes, props etc.
I have no idea why I’m trying to ponce up my review. Jet skis, guns, explosions, pirates, fish gill Kevin Costner - what more do you need?

Waterworld was epically expensive, took about 20 years to break even.
I think it's found favour in the last decade but my memory was that it was complete shite. I also remember being irritated at how dirty everyone was even though they lived in water. After enjoying Street Fighter on the weekend I should probably give it another go!

I think that this actually isn’t true.
It flopped domestically but actually broke even on the worldwide market upon cinema release.
It heralded the trend of studios producing loud action movies that will appeal to other cultures/markets ala fast and furious and transformers franchises. Bland action packed spectacles that have generic plots/actors/themes

And a few frames of sideboob to get horny pubescent boys interested before the internet was much of a thing.

You forgot to mention the opening pissing-then-drinking it scene.

the most important component of why Waterworld is fucking amazing: Dennis Hopper

I just watched 1967 007 classic You Only Live Twice
Hadn't ever blocked before that the screenplay is by Ronald Dahl. Not surprising, it has a monorail in a volcano with a piranha pool and ninjas. Whilst being about space pirates.
Absolutely brilliant use of two hours.
So I've finally just watched 'The Painted Bird' after trying to see it since the day of it's (very short) original cinema release.
It's truly stunning visually, with a fantastic performance from the young lead. Within the first minute you already know it's not going to be an easy watch.
However...having read the book, I did feel that the film skipped over a few details which in my opinion were important in helping to shape the boy into the person he eventually became. There were also quite a few parts which felt very abbreviated compared to the book.
Lastly...it has a completely different ending, which is quite a big thing to change in my opinion.
I kind of wish it had been made in two parts so that it could have stuck more closely to the details.
I'd be keen to see what others make of it.
