  • "Bingo Bongo"

  • Nah she's deffs fit.

but just, a horrid slag, jumped up posho kinda way

  • Watching I Am Legend for about the 4th time in a fortnight (it seems to be on ITV constantly). The film seriously goes downhill after Sam dies.

  • Sam is the only decent thing in that movie
    the omega man FTW!

  • 'Kings Speech'
just got out, combined age of Poole audience, 7000 years (104 seats)
performances- more solid than the walls of bucknam palace.
Geoff Rush, so fucking good it hurts. again.
Helena, just the right amount of 'I own all of this/ and Im a lady'

    riveting, I must admit.
still cant wait for Black Swan though

  • Omega Man is great. I bought that no so long ago - and Soylent Green

  • Agreed Rik, Sam was awesome!

*m.f, hurry up and see it, it's fucking amazing.

  • Black Swan?! Kings Speech?!! rolls eyes

  • Watching Black Swan was like being repeatedly kicked in the testicles. Antichrist had a similar effect, as did a bout of food poisoning that I suffered from last summer.

An interesting film, absolutely, but I'm unable to decide whether or not I enjoyed it.

I still can't look at my toenails.

  • Black Swan was fucking amazing

  • Soylent Green, another no so well know gem, you will see that Hollywood make a remake soon and fuck it

  • Black Swan?! Kings Speech?!! rolls eyes

whaddya mean? serious film overdose or what?
should I be watching some manga then dude, tell us about it.

    sorry you felt that 26th,
when we did the film ruiner thread a while back, I said about Antichrist
    'girl gets clit chopped off'
does that even things out a bit?

  • I really enjoyed Black Swan. It was much better than I expected, mainly due to the tension that builds up in so many of the scenes. The music and sound effects, and quick, but not annoyingly jerky, camera work and editing was excelent.

  • who did the soundtrack?
on 127 hours it was A.R.Raman, gotta get that soon as well

  • I'm not sure actually. I'll have to have a look. Although most of it was taken straight from Swan lake the original works create a really overwelming sense of anxiety and danger. I won't say more but you'll know the scenes I mean when you see it. Definitely worth a watch, even for people who are obsessed with Eraserhead and Scanner ;)

  • I dunno, I don't fancy Kings Speech because a) it's got that bloke in it who will forever be that posh twat in Richard Curtis films and b) everyone says it's 'brilliant' etc etc etc therefore I am deeply distrustful - the dullards in my office will watch it because it's winning awards, not because they wanna see it.....

and Black Swan just doesn't appeal to me at all......

  • yeah I can see that view,
and the story is one of the themes white middle class people relish so much,
but despite all that if you like acting, and watching good acting, go and see it for Geoff Rush alone, theres some excellent scenes, Timothy Spall plays Churchill too.
Mike off Neighbours does a cracking posh accent too, really good for an aussie bastard

  • Yeah I think the same about Kings Speach, I'm sure it's well made, acted and all that but it looks boring as fuck and Curtis is massively overrated. Doubt I'll watch it tbh either

Trust though, Black Swan probably isn't what you expect. It's a propper thriller in the true sense of the word. If you appreciate the way film can really play with your emotions and build up a feeling of tension then its worth a go. Aronofsky's films are a bit hit or miss, even within the films themselves, but I was really impressed with this...I think I've overhyped this now and anyone reading will think it was shit lol

  • Just watched black swan, i enjoyed it. this sums up my feeling's well i think:

I didn't know Mike off Neigbours was in it. Booking tickets now...

YouTube - Black Swan Trailer - Remix

    says the meme king... ;-)

  • really liked Requiem for a Dream (liking isn't really the right word) but think Black Swan will be too much for me. is a bit annoying it's all over the place, tempting me...

sat through the Patrick Keiller triple bill yesterday - London, Robinson in Space, Robinson in Ruins - could not stay awake. and the cinema was full of people eating crisps out of crinkly packets and coughing and sneezing. disappointed. London is still brilliant though.

think i want to see Blue Valentine but it might just be too mopey.

I took my mother to see The King's Speech on Saturday.

It was her birthday, and I knew my dad wouldn't fancy a film like that, so I got him off the hook and took her to the cinema.

I really enjoyed the film. Colin Firth was really good, and Geoffrey Rush was awesome, in my opinion. The cinematography was excellent - the outdoor shots were eerie and really captured the strange tension of the build up to war.

It was pretty funny too, which doesn't really come across in the trailers. I might not opt to see it at the cinema, if the choice was up to me, but it's definitely worth a watch.

Ta Lucy. I quite fancy watching it now. I have no reservations about watching Mister Darcy if he's in a good film. He's a very good actor who's been in plenty of interesting stuff apart from Bridget Jones or whatever (although I though A Single Man was overrated). I look forward to it.

Saw Black Swan on Saturday afternoon. It's... I dunno. I enjoyed it I think. I think I enjoyed it despite quite a lot of stuff including a the rather OTT direction Vincent Cassel's apalling (was it supposed to be apalling? I don't know.) script. Read a review that said it could be renamed "Tutu goes mental" or something which just about sums it up. "Two hours in the head of a hallucinating, derranged and paranoid ballet dancer". Would be slightly more accurate. I enjoyed it... I think.

  • I Am Legend? Mick, fuck that. In those four viewings you could have read the book. Which is amazing, and basically invented survivalist horror. I'll happily lend you my copy.
