  • True.

The film in no way resembles the book, which is incredible.

On that point, does anyone know of a film that is better than the book?

I'll throw my hat in the ring with Blade Runner (Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?)

  • King's Speech. I used to detest Firth. Now he's cool. He just got tied into the same shite roles. Watch.
Black Swan. Liked the last 30 mins. better than the rest, but great... I think. Quality ending. Great music. Great camera work. Great ass! @ Dooks... I know what you mean.

  • I'll add The Ipcress File, prunes a lot of unecessary globetrotting stuff, and keeps the action in London.

  • ^^^Fear And loathing In Las Vegas is plenty better as a film than the original book

    good grown up suggestion Lucy,
'Into the wild' would be mine,
the book by Krakauur is journalistic, and the film fleshes it right out
there will be others, but Im working : /

They're very different animals, and intellectual merits apart, I enjoyed the film of American Psycho more than the (frankly disturbingly revolting) book.

  • That too. Never finished the book (not one for novels really), but came to find on second viewing that I really like the film.

  • the da vinci code

  • barely.

  • I can't decide if I prefer the book or film of Everything is Illuminated.

It's tricky, I think the order you do it in makes a difference. If you read the book first I don't think the film will live up to what you expect

  • the da vinci code

i was about to suggets that. both shite but in the scheme of things the film's just another big dumb hollywood action thriller. the fact that the book reads like an adolescent psychopath's attempt at describing a big dumb hollywood action thriller in prose makes it much, much worse than the film.

  • it was a joke

  • The Notebook.

  • ...so i've heard.

sideways works much better as a film imo

  • it was a joke

oh right. i still reckon (by my criteria at least) the film is less shit than the book.

i have been in the room while the film was on. i have read a chapter or two of the book "as research". officer.

  • the shining?

  • Got the remastered Metropolis on DVD guys!

  • I Am Legend? Mick, fuck that. In those four viewings you could have read the book. Which is amazing, and basically invented survivalist horror. I'll happily lend you my copy.

Might have to get that off you at some point dude.

You are gangster motherfuckin' trippin', man!

  • Nice one on the remastered Metropolis – wicked film

    Oooh! That looks lush!

I'm ashamed to say I've never seen it, although it is right at the top of my 'must see' list.
Maybe this edition is the one I should get.

    How much dorra?

Chrimbo present from Mrs Glover's parents, beats socks!

Although I haven't got the Blu-Ray version seen there because there's more to life ;)

I dug the book. I mean it's amazing in so many ways. But i have to say I enjoyed the film more. I absolutely love the film.
