I watched Beasts of No Nation last night.
It's horrific. Very well made, and it unfolds from a child's perspective in a very convincing way, but then when that child is a child soldier it's never going to be very nice.
Sparked off a big discussion about whether the lack of rooting it in a real life time or place perpetuated this idea that it is "what 'Africa' is like" which I won't go into unless anyone else has seen it.

Suffragette was actually pretty good. The main character (Carey Mulligan) isn't particularly well-drawn, but the performances are uniformly excellent, especially Helena B-C. I thought Meryl Streep was going to play a big part, but she's just in for a cough and a spit. Disappointing body count.
Think the basic underlying premise is 'terrorism is ok'.

I've heard people say it - never seen it - even if I knew what it was, which I don't...

Woooooo Bond was absolutely thrilling. Not the best, but worth the ride.
Adds weight to theory that the next Bond will be a re-start set in the 60s.
Shit theme tune is still stuck in my head.

Spectre is fucking great. I wish Craig was young enough to have one more in him, I've come to say he's probably my favourite Bond.
As for the song I wasn't too impressed on first listen but it 100% fits with the opening credits so you can't say fairer than that.

Just saw Bond.
Eh.
Daniel Craig is great and Lea Seydoux is an awesome bond girl but Waltz is meh, at best, as the bad guy and the plot is thin (even for Bond).
6/10

Yeah, I found it a bit flat, all in all, and the pacing seemed really off, as my mind wandered, a lot.

I have to say that the trailer did nothing for me. Seeing it in IMAX soon but am not over excited.
I am a Bond fan.

My friend who I saw it with who is a massive Bond fan didn't like it, and said "They catastrophically misunderstood the character of Blofeld".
I'll agree Waltz could have been eviller. But then I'm easily pleased - I'm more interested in a good cinematic experience, which I felt was delivered. The car chase was awesome.

Spectre was okay, nothing great. However, after a summer of filming over the Thames at night with helicopters close to our home. I'm asking Westminster City council for a full fecking rebate on our Concil Tax..
-
• #12024
You live in Westminster next to the Thames?
I think you can afford it. ;)
