  • Indeed they are. I would get a 2nd pair at that price. Where are they £118 Fahrgestell?

    Sorry, Eagle 5 pro.

    Bike Discount.de ----> http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k680/a26825/eagle-5-pro-white.html?mfid=53

  • They're £112 on XXcycle.com
Not that £5 matters, but XXcycle are good prices for all sidi products normally. If they've it in stock.

  • Does anyone know who stocks spare parts for Sidi shoes? I need a replacement buckle for my Domintor 5's and TFG, Condor and Brixton cycles are all out. The Distributor wants to charge me 8 quid for shipping a 4 quid piece.

    Total ballache.

  • sidi cafe normally have most bits
    not that cheap tho

  • Cadence had a good selection of sidi parts. I bought new buckles from there a month or so ago

Awesome, they're just down the road from me too.

  • I bought Dominators last week as there was a mad bargain on EBay and I was getting sick of my SPD 'trainers'. At first they seemed a bit too short, but I wore them around the house while I made my breakfast and they seemed to shape a little bit and started to feel great.

They felt so good on my first ride that I then decided to buy the Genius 5 shoes as well, as they were only £76 new on Amazon, and while my Mavic shoes are good, they're definitely not this good.

They seem so pliable, I was wearing them with two pairs of wool socks today, when I took one pair off they had shaped a little larger, but when I tightened them they moulded to my feet again.

  • I acknowledge the answer to this is "go and try them on" before the usual suspects chime in.

    With that said:

I've had a pair of Sidi Dragons for 4 years, during that time they have had two sets of replacement sole lugs, and now need another.

I would simply replace them, but- the size 44's that I have are ever so slightly too small.

I'm wondering whether to ask Condor to order in a pair of 44.5 or a 44 mega, so was wondering if people with any experience of this could help.

With the 44 the fit is perfect across the arch, length is spot on, but my second and third toes are slightly cramped.

I've got a pair of size 45 Ergo II's and whilst they are fine I always feel that they are very slightly too large around the arch/heel- however I have tried a pair of 44.5's and they were simply too small around the toes. The road shoes do come up smaller than the MTB shoes though in my experience.

So- question is, half a size up, or Mega?

  • I would answer mega - if its too wide, you can just tighten them.
I had megas and whereas my foot is not particularly wide (bargain off here) I didnt feel much difference with buckles done up.
but yeah, instead of discussing it through you really should go and check for yourself, there is always a factor or two that are forgot to be taken into consideration when discussing things like this on the internet.

  • I would say get the .5s, mega won't help cramped toes, as they extra width is further back

  • Laner - from reading the "what is Mega" page on Sidi Cafe that is what I suspected.

Have you tried them on back to back to verify?

(I suspect that my perfect pair of Sidi's would be size 44's with a size 45 toe box.)

  • I have tried on both normal and mega (I had to buy mega) but not on the same day to do a definitive test.

  • Ok, I shall do so. Does anywhere apart from Condor stock Sidi these days?

  • Dammit,

If you're South London. De Ver Cycles stock Sidi's in both normal and mega fit.

    "go and try them on"

  • I thought Scherrit (or any old cobbler) had stretching equipment. Couldn't you just get them adjusted in the toe box?

Also, I'd still recommend my pieces-of-inner-tube-sandwiched-between-lugs-and-sole trick to eke more life out of those bits.

  • Or just make your own?

  • whispers they look light

  • Do exactly as hippy says - try them on

The Mega will be a wide fit, and the additional volume will cover the last from heel to toe - 4.6 mm is the standard addition in volume across the joint area - This is the widest point of your foot - ball of the big toe to the ball of your little toe

It sounds like the 44's are just short for you, and you'll probably find that your smaller toes will move more naturally in the 44.5's because by what you say, your wearing a size too short. If you stand on a piece of paper, back straight and both feet shoulder width apart you can get someone to mark yoru actual stick length using a ruler to vertically mark the heel extremity and the toe extremity on each foot - measure between the two poits and you're either
    44 - 293mm
    44.5 - 297mm

It sounds like a short shoe issue as opposed to an overall volume issue. Depending on your feet width the Mega may well be too volumous, and over time as the shoe settles out to your feet, it may feel very roomy and not as secure as you'd want.

    Try 'em, then you'll know!

  • Back of heel to front of big toe is 272mm.

My feet are pretty much flipper/blunt shaped though.

The two toes adjacent to my big toe are the same length- so only the third and little toe are shorter if that makes sense.

This is an interesting idea, all I am after is a bit more room for my toes.

Would this risk knackering the shoe, or is it a tried and tested operation?

  • That was what the cobbler with whom I discussed my Sidi's said, also.

So- I went into Condor, they are selling their few remaining pairs of Sidi shoes and then stopping supplying them for good.

I am now the proud owner of a pair of these (they fit the best out of all the shoes there):

    Size 44 fits perfectly.

  • Loved mine, not as hard wearing as Sidis sadly.

  • But half the price.
