Speedplay Zero's with cleat covers on are surprisingly un-Bambi like, apart from when you go into the lavatory at the Cafe St Germain, which has a friction free floor.

lavatory? Is this London, Ontario?

lavatory? Is this London, Ontario?
You are suggesting that people only call the lavatory the lavatory in Canada?
-
• #731
In Aus they call it a ditch?
-
• #732
Or the floor.
-
• #733
I think that's their word for bin

I have a pair of dragon II with crank brother cleats the walk like stiff shoes with no contact on the cleats

Nearly went on my arse in a convenience store earlier when I was too lazy to fit the cleat covers. Vinyl floor. The store clerk could barely contain his laughter as I paid for my energy drink.
Girlfriend was watching from outside and greeted me with the most condescending look imaginable when I came out... :(
"You didn't see that did you?"
"Yep..." -

IME the value of cleat covers with Look is not only the additional traction but fact that the cleats disintegrate after contact with tarmac and at £20 a set it's an expensive proposition going without.

• #737
20!? They have em for a 10er in decathlon.

You are suggesting that people only call the toilet the lavatory in Canada and the US?
Yes. Though maybe the posh use it as well. I wouldn't really know aboot that, ay.

I wore my SIDIs today. They feel like slippers.
The drawback is, going back to normal cleat position from midfoot is like walking around your house and then doing the same while on tip toe.

I was getting a little toe numbness after about 40km this weekend. Any idea what to try? They're definitely the right size. I was thinking of moving the cleats back a fraction. Fair?
Super comfy though, oh my god. Can't wait to have a good setup on these.
Although the insoles seem shit so they probably didn't help. Why do all nice shoes come with such crappy insoles?
-

Loosen the velcro across the top of the foot. I run my shoes pretty loose usually.
They 'could' also be getting cold. Depends how your circulation is.
-
• #742
Also if they're new, and the cleat position is new you might just need your muscles to get used to it.
I've got achy ankles this week having moved over to the 'winter' shoes.
-
• #743
Definitely not cold feet. I'm used to that in the winter and it felt different. Also it was worse yesterday which was a warmer day.
I'll run them a little looser and see if that helps with circulation.
Felt like hotspots were starting to develop over the cleats too, which is why I was going to shift them back a little. But that could also be the insoles. Wasn't terrible, just slightly uncomfortable all things considered.
A lot more difficult to dial in cleat position on these than SPDs, I feel, but clearly feeling the benefits of both Sidis and Looks over my previous stuff. Just not quite mastered clipping in yet, as some drivers here will testify to...
-
• #744
Hotspots? 40k? If you're going fast enough over 40k to put enough pressure on your feet for them to hurt you shouldn't notice your feet hurting. ;)

I've lost the ability to clip in to 'normal' pedal/cleats now too. Le sigh.
-
• #746
unfortunately you are going to have to shell out some more cash jadias.
the standard insoles from sidi are absolutely horrendous and should be replaced immediately! -
• #747
I never had an issues with the standard insoles. I usually run custom insoles but for commuting and fixie skiddin' the standard ones did fine.
-
• #748
+1
They're not supposed to be squishy. I know a lot of people use the Specialised insoles in summer.

Anyone had any experience with the Logo Vernice road shoes?
Planet X have them on for just under £100 in my size.......

Yes. Though maybe the posh use it as well. I wouldn't really know aboot that, ay.
"Toilet" is the act of washing oneself- one attends to ones toilet in the bathroom.
You have a crap in the lavatory.
Although, thinking about it, lavatory originally meant to wash also.
SO- Thunderbox it is. That has no other meaning to confuse the issue.
Don't walk in them.
Ride up to the counter, order, trackstand, pay, drink, ride out.
