+1 for a solution of baking 'soda' and water. Scrub the insides with this then let them dry out overnight. It should do the trick.

I've always used this:
Always surprised how well it gets rid of nasty smells.

Chep Sidi's on Amazon at the moment:
Just recieved a pair of these Sidi Eagles in silver (not Dragons as title suggests and not womens fit either - as they only make womens fit up to size 41) for £100
SRS carbon soles and the fancy adjustable heal retention system too.SIDI Women's Dragon 2 C Srs1 Cycling Shoe: Amazon.co.uk: Shoes & Accessories

How much 'wearing in' should I need to do with new Dominators? I'm a bit worried that I should have got Megas as my toes feel a bit cramped, but perhaps some stretching of the shoe and messing with the straps will get them feeling right.
-
• #706
I dont think the show will stretch, although I could be wrong. Are you wearing summer cycling socks? I find if i wear my regular running socks from m&s its like adding a half size.
-

Having googled it a bit, they might shape to my feet but won't stretch. Brixton Cycles said they'd swap them for a different size, not sure about Megas though as I know they're more expensive.

if they fit you better you should spend the money. Having numb achy feet takes the fun out of cycling.

Yeah. I know. My current SPD shoes are shitty Adidas things but I've got used to them and they're mad comfortable. Trouble is, they offer no support (not very stiff soled) so I get sore ankles and feet on my 20 mile commute round trip.
Does anyone have a pair of size 45 Megas I could try on to compare? I'm going to take these out for a spin tomorrow and see how they are. They're VERY close to being comfortable, there's just a nagging feeling that that I'll suffer after a few miles. -

I think I need those snot green Drako's

Went into my LBS for some new gloves today.
Oops. And some Look Keo Classics to go with them.
Mad comfy. Let's see how many times I fall making the transition from SPDs...
-
• #715
^Daring. How comes you wanted to switch from SPD, out of interest?
Are they just just SPD-SL version's of Dominator 5s?
-
• #716
I believe so, yeah. These are Genius 5 Megas.
My previous SPD shoes were a little tight and giving me numb toes, and I was starting to hit the point of feeling a hotspot over the cleat after a certain distance. Figured if I'm going to invest in a nice set of shoes, I might as well just go the whole hog and try a road system.
Sidis were on offer, so there's that, too.
Walking in these is HILARIOUS, especially with the added height of Cleatskins, so I'll have to figure out how best to deal with that on more 'tour' type rides.

buy mtb shoes, much better for walking around in
-
• #718
My previous ones were tourers and yes, nice to walk in, but I want to try the comfort of road pedals and more rigid soles over longer distances.
Given the riding I'm doing at the moment, my cycling shoes want to be more for cycling than walking. :)

Just don't stop at cafes where you have to carry your own coffee to the table. Shit gets all...
-
• #722
^ Brilliant! Properly lol'd.
I have Cleatskins and they seem pretty grippy so I have hope. The balancing act is weird though. I've spent a couple of hours walking around in my SPDs - gonna be carrying flip-flops now I think!

Move the sidi strap more to the centre. It can be adjusted from the inside bit.
Will be comfier. -
• #724
^true that. I rode around with mine like that, but the opposite way for months until I realized, made quite a difference when i centered it.
-
• #725
Done. Still dialling in the fit. Gotta try to get cleat placement down before Saturday too!
No wait, bicarbonate of soda. I don't think they're the same thing. It's bicarb you want.
