What's the cost price, Ed?
if you mean trade, not much unsurprisingly.
We get better one with Specialized, of which I'm looking at the S-Work MTB at the moment...

Just been quoted a 2 month wait for a pair of black eagle 6 carbons. Does anyone who owns some think they are worth it over the dominators?

I have some Sidi road shoes that look pretty much like Dominators. They can fit SPD / ATAC style cleats and Look-style cleats, but they're road shoes, not MTB shoes so they have pretty much no traction. I'm currently using Look Delta pedals and cleats on my road bike, but I want to swap to Time ATAC on my road bike and one of my street tarck bikes.
Does anyone know if the Shiman pontoons work on Sidi shoes? I don't want to buy a new pair of shoes, and I'd like to have some clipless shoes I can actually walk in. Also, do the "pontoons" work with Time ATAC's?
I DAFSFFS on "pontoons" (I know I saw a thread on here about them), but couldn't find anything.

Pontoons = Cleats?
-
• #657
Nope. These:
They are bolted on under the cleat and go on either side of the cleat so you can walk in them. Kind of making road shoes in to MTB shoes. From what I understand.
I just want to know if they can work with Time ATAC cleats.

Hopefully someone knows.

You have GOT to try on cycle shoes....i know, i am still suffering months after pinching my little toes on SIDIs i thought were sized OK. Each maker seems to size by their own rules LOL

anyone know of any good current deals on dominators ?
-
• #664
I went to the lbs to try some SIDI's and test what is good for me. I tried a pair of dragon 3 and a pair of dominator 5. The dragon system felt awesome it really molded to the shape of my feet, it felt tight but not uncortable. The dominator with only the velcro system didn't feel as good.
In a real world scenario would the different closing system between these two make a diference? The price difference is huge (I know that sole tech changes, heel adjustment, etc).

I love my Dragons but I assume the difference you are referring to is the middle 'Tecno' buckle, which is actually my least favourite part of them. I may be a bit biased because I finished a ride within a month of buying them and found one of them had gone missing when I got home - then found fitting the replacement to be a major faff. Even now, I still occasionally find the the other one is threatening to make a bid for freedom of it's own. In addition to this, the shoes fit so damn snugly (in a good way) I've found that I barely use it anyway - and I haven't touched the bottom strap since day one either.
I've never used the Dominators but I'd have thought the bigger consideration between the two is the crabon sole and the SRS - both of which you can get on cheaper models than the Dragon 3 (Spiders are cheaper than Dominators @ Wiggle currently).
I reckon if I were buying some new ones I'd plump for the Eagle 6s...

Those buckles are a pain. I have to push back in a couple of the pins (I have 2 on each shoe!) after every other ride. Already lost one, but I didn't find it to difficult to replace...Costly though.

Spotted a new pair of these shoes in my size for under £100 which seems like a bargain. However, I would be interested to get opinions on the durability of these before I pull the trigger. I wear my shoes for the commute and quite a lot of MTBing. I do end up doing a bit of walking around in them too. I want to get shoes that are going to last me a few years at this price!
The uppers look tough but I am concerned about the sole material - there is very little of it and its seems quite low density. Looks like it will wear through in no time. I'm also wondering about the material inside the heel cup. Most of my other shoes get shredded in this area.. how to the Sidis fare? Also how well do they drain? MTBing I tend to have wet feet half the time and my shoes need good drainage!
Also on my shortlist are some Shimano XC50N shoes if anyone has tried them?
Cheers

They will definitely last you a few years. Mine are getting on fr 3.5 years old and look almost the same as they did after 6 months. The soles do wear down, but I've done plenty of walking in mine and they are still fine.
They're identical to the Dominators other than they have a rubber toe protector and some mesh on the toe so I should imagine their fit, comfort, etc would be the same as the Dominators
