UV light if its marked by the popo- should have the postcode, otherwise...
Not sure that mugging him was the right way to go though. Could do the same to the guy who is always at the betting shop on the corner with an Olmo with upturned bars but I reckon he's had it for ages...

Think I've got a BINGO!
That website could be sooo much more user friendly; can only filter 'UK'!In the past month my rear wheel was stolen and my neighbours two bikes were stolen while I was literally 10 feet above the thieves during the act (see previous page), which I feel guilty for not preventing. I am a man on a mission.
Terrorist, appreciate completely. I still feel I said all the right things, that anyone legitimate person would have walked away with the bike and an apology.
I don't think it's fair to say I mugged him. -

Was on Bethnal Green Road a few hours ago when I saw a guy get off a bike at a corner shop opposite KFC...a ladies bike. He was about 30, stoned and in a track suit. Basic scumbag.
He went in to buy rizla so I waited outisde beside the bike in sight of him. He came out and I did the whole "who did you buy this bike off" spiel and said that it was my girlfriends (I, sadly, do not have a girlfriend).
He said he bought it from Brick Lane (he was clearly lying) for £60, an amount exactly half what I guessed he paid for it when he refused to say how much he bought it for...
I said the bike was stolen last week (from us) last week, and that the police were on the way (they weren't), that the bike was marked and he needed to wait.
He was talking shit about showing him a receipt and I just smiled and made it seem like I was happy for him to be talking as the 5-0 were on the way. When he started getting agitated I said I didn't want any trouble but I wasn't going to let him leave with the bike - it was mine, it was stolen and the police would sort. My favourite cousin then appeared and I was concerned that if anything kicked off and she got hurt I would be responsible...
I said to the thief I'd give him £20 for the bike and he'd have to eat his £40 loss, that all bikes sold on Brick Lane are stolen. That I was paying the £20 so I wouldn't have to wait for and deal with the police. He said fine, took the money and left.I've searched the thread for the bikes model name and found nothing. If anyone knows of a ladies two tone blue and white Raleigh with white saddle that was stolen PM me.
(I'm concerned about posting images/ description here in case someone false claims it, is that being silly?)
Batman - is that you?

Anyone had a Blue and Yellow Moser Nicked?
Because at 5pm it was left unlocked hanging over the railing outside Streatham Job centre by a person who clearly was not the 'one careful owner'.
I'll put this in Stolen Bikes as well but wanted to grab the attention of whoever had lost it.
Blue frame (about a 55-56). Yellow decals, yellow lof profile skinny tyres. Geared.
Would have locked it but had nothing on me, called the popo on the non-urgent number and they said they wouldn't likely do anything about it...

colleagues are taking a piss at you because you didn't lock your bike?!?
Hesitant to post this in here as it's entirely trivial wrt some of the posts above, and also just a rant.
I left the office at 2200 this evening and some f*ckwit had stolen both my rear lights. Although reasonably bright, they were trivially expensive and I can barely believe worth the effort from the thief who even unscrewed one of the brackets. But, it really bugs me as I normally have a c. 1hour commute on reasonably busy but dark and unlit roads and I'd have been terrified to cycle home without any lights on the back. If I'd have died I'd have been severely unimpressed!
The irony is that today I also forgot my keys for the first time in about a year, but the idiots never realised the whole bike was unlocked!

A bit harsh no? Unless you're into that sort of thing.

Well and truly gutted - had some scum bags climb over our wall and steal my Specialized Allez and Charge Plug Grinder
The Plug is pretty unique, in that it is covered in stickers (courtesy of my 2 year old daughter) - so if someone spots it, please let me know. Its not worth very much, and has its fair share of scratches (hence the stickers) but I'm really attached to it - my daughter was in tears when I told her the bike was gone, as she loved stickering it up

Saw a Quintana Roo with Carbon wheels upturned and unlocked outside a barber shop in Brixton today, next to another Carbon bike. Don't think it was necessarily stolen but it certainly wasn't locked so if it was yours, lock it...

I bet it was the one at the corner of Coldharbour Lane. That's where my bike was recovered from after I walked past the place and saw it being taken apart in plain view.

Yep, always see all manner of bikes outside there.

Does anyone know if that 'Recycle' bike shop is dodgy near Corsica studio in E&C? I checked there this morning on the way to work on the off chance the aforementioned Holdsworth might have been there but to no avail.
-
• #9346
Yep! As about as dodgy as your 8th LP....an R&B collaboration album, what were you thinking Tony?
Yeah avoid it.

Haha. I kind of fell off with that one.
It looked dodgy as fuck, that's why I thought it might be worth a look. Nothing in the shop, but who knows about out back?

will keep a look out for that, go to college close by.
that is amazing. i hope you find the owner. maybe slightly nutso of you though. it would be awkward if you got pulled ouver by the police riding a girls bike home and asked to explain how you got it
