  • Hi guys,

Just back from holiday and figured out that somebody stole my bike during that time (private parking, CCTV and two locks on it). Took place in East London.

Here is an old pic of it, few change since: black stem, charge riser alu, black grip, black dia compe lever and black rear hub

I'll go after some footage from CCTV tonight if it helps ....
    Many thanks

    Yves

  • Yves, see my message of a week ago below, it was the same model of Langster.

Spotted just after 6pm 4 black youths riding down from Broadway Market to Hackney Road, along Bishops Way towards Vicky park, rjling all the way... 1 on a small white Langster. Perhaps they weren't all stolen but the way he was handling the Langster makes me pretty sure that it was. Plus it looked too small for him.

  • Yves I saw some asian kids in Stepney green at the weekend on a langster (same colourway) I didn't get a look at it to see bars and grips. I'll keep an eye on them to see if I see it or they've sold it on.

  • Thanks guys! should be indeed a small one (54)

  • As seen on Gumtree just now, courtesy of Bikeshed;

Bike is so 'beloved' Barry doesn't even know what the wheel size is. Probably hasn't got time to measure the wheels as he's too busy also selling a Specialized Hard Rock...

  • Oh my days!

  • Oooh, thats the block of flats behind kings cross on cromer street.

  • Someone may have found my bike in Bury St Edmunds. Fingers crossed.

Doesn't need it as he's got a 'new' one.

  • Probably hot because the bike in picture (and the picture itself) was kingcutter whom sold it yonks ago.

  • Hey guys, this thread is great. I was gonna splash on a brand new custom fixie, but this thread has convinced me otherwise.

If anyone can get me a size small steel framed bike (baby blue or white) with a flip flop hub and brakes I'll pay cash. PM me!

  • Stratton just stolen!
Hi all, just had my bike stolen in the last couple of hours. It was from a locked enclose off the road, properly hidden from prying eyes. Someone has climbed over a wall, cut through a lock and legged it through the neighbours. It is a distinctive bike, Orange stratton fixed gear, chopped bars with no grips, mavic open pros, black wheels and a swift honey brooks with "PQR" stamped on it by our very own Skully so there is no mistaking it.

It was taken between 6.30pm and 10pm tonight. Please keep your eyes peeled!

  • It got stolen from your place of residence? I though it would be stolen on Waterloo Bridge where I keep seeing it every day, I assumed the lock was a Evo Mini?

sorry to hear about that mate, hopefully it make an appearance in Brick Lane soon.

damn! very distinctive as it's the only other stratton i know, used to belong to dmczone right?

give us a location as well

  • Yup, it was DMC's old frame, stolen from near Highbury & Islington from behind an 8ft locked wall. The little scrote climbed over and then went out through the neighbours

  • Fuckety fuck,if I had cycled in today and tied it up at work it'd still be here &(%%&^T&*( bollocks!

  • i'm in hackney and always pass through highbury, so i'll keep an eye out for it

  • Cheers RS, I have a feeling it might have been the crack head from a couple of months go. Little fucker got lucky last time with an open door, this time he climbed the wall, got through a lock. It was only 1 guy as they left the missus' (admittedly shit) bike

  • ^Im just on upper st, so Ill keep my eyes peeled. Probably the same fuckers that burgled me last weekend

  • Cheers CK, hopfeully the fact there aren't many orange strattons and the fact it was a brand new swift with "PQR" in great big letters stamped on it might mean I get bits of it back.

Here is some more info and a few ideas

    Jon Snow's Condor stolen - £1000 reward!

CTC President and Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow's hand-built titanium Condor road bike has been stolen from outside the Channel 4 newsroom in central London. He says: "It's another stake through my heart. The sudden loss of independence, mobility, and that old friend... So I've tweeted an offer of £1,000 to get it back. In fact, whoever finds it can have anything they want! (Well, except the bike itself)." We suspect a few people will be keeping an eye on BikeShd, a site which amalgamates all of the bikes for sale in London daily on Gumtree and eBay so you can easily search for a stolen bike and alert the police if you spot it. The site was designed by a web developer who had a bike stolen and spent days searching for it online. Hopefully, though, Jon's bike won't turn up on Going Going Bike, a new eBay style auction site which aims to be the legitimate marketplace for all things bike.

  • he should do an " and finally " bit on the Channel 4 news
and do an exposee of bike thefts in london
that would give it a high profile

  • From the CTC Newsletter:

You missed this bit ... reasssuring to know the police will visit you after someone nicks your bike ... if you're influential?

No sign of my bike, but the police have been excellent. Barry at Holborn is ‘investigating’. I have a crime number.
And I have been contacted by the Mayor’s new Met Police Cycle unit. One of his chaps is coming to see me this afternoon.
The £1000 reward is still unclaimed. No sign of the steed on Gumtree or eBay. This bike’s too hot to handle. I’m going to get it back

  • he gets a crime number when so many other don't
    thats criminal in itself

  • Eh?

Any reported theft gets a crime no for insurance purposes??

It's good to get somebody important on the side of cyclists. Jus lik good ol' Boris.
