  • There was nothing. It was locked to immovable (i.e cemented rather than screwed to the ground) bike railings. CCTV shows three men climb over an 8ft wall and somehow remove the lock within a couple of minutes? The lack of light and poor image quality mean I cannot see how.

bad news. could you see any sparks on the video? i hope you get it back

  • Had my FUJI TRACK '07 taken from outside my front door in the past couple of hours in Stepney Green.

It was black and logos/branding covered in black electrical tape. Had all stock parts except: ITM/Bianchi branded stem (Black), Goldfinger (bronze) front brake and San Marco Rolls Saddle (Black). I feel sick, this is the second bike I've had stolen in 3 months, thinking about giving up cycling, someone please convince me otherwise.

  • Haroun, was this a locking issue.......both times?

Don't give up cycling. I had two bikes stolen, but over a decade, yet still learned from those bitter lessons.

  • Just seen Hobo's post, bad luck mate, that really, really sucks.

  • kind of. First time I had a cheapish lock that got cut through. Second time i didn't lock because my front door was open and I was stood at the window overlooking my bike, obviously looked away for 2mins. So it's my own fault, which makes me feel worse.

  • Same happened to me, but in reverse order. You live and learn.

Get down to Brick Lane Market on Sunday, but keep your eye on Gumtree daily

  • Where abouts in Stepney Green do you live?

Take a walk around Globe road, Massingdon st, the shops by the bridge on Globe road and the Estates off of Cephas St. A group of Aisan youths constantly have stolen bikes and hang around there. I will keep an eye out, poss put up your contact details So i can give you a shout if I see it.

  • I live off Hannibal road in Cressy House, so just round the corner from Globe Road. Details Pm'ed, thanks for the advice. GA2G - Cheers for the tips, I'll get down there on Sunday, but gotta be at work at 11 so won't be able to stay long. If anyone else is down there, I'd really really appreciate you keeping your eyes open!

  • From the CCTV they cut the chain (Abus Extreme 37) for sure but I cannot see the fagh. However they must have done because both the chain and the fagh were connected to the bike stand?

Bad luck! It sounds like a professional operation, 3 guys to steal one bike, surely they can't just be flogging this for £100 (or less) to someone who will sell it on...

How solid were the bike railings? Is it possible that they might have cut through the railings and then just removed the bike with the locks attached?

  • Even this is too good fro bike thieves...

Get another bike, leave it there, but disconnect the brakes, loosen the stem and loosen the crank bolts.

Feel really sorry for you mate, 3 bikes in a year is rough I thought I had it bad, one stolen outside work at 3pm in knightsbridge another Crushed by a lorry discovered coming back from bank holiday away.

Was the bike locked up? I live pretty much next door to you so I will keep an eye out. A pic would help too.

  • ^There's a team of little Jacks? One is enough.

  • cheers teamhamsandwich new found neighbour! Will get a pic up soon as I can find the memory card it's stored on. it hurts to say it but it wasn't locked.

  • seen this http://bikeshd. co.uk

a good tool for those looking for a stolen bike

  • Just seen a bloke in cuffs and his wife (?) being led away by the police at the end of St. Martins Lane near Traf algar Square. The policeman had an expensive-looking tan leather saddle in his hand (maybe a Brooks, didn't really see) plus a bag of what looked like bike bits...

  • Hello everyone, I hope you're all well and are having some luck in getting your stolen bikes back.

Like many of you, some time ago my bike was stolen and I posted within another thread to see if anyone had seen it around. With a stroke of luck, I have recently been contacted by a member who spotted it at Hackney Downs train station but have unfortunately not been about to recover it. I'm hoping that as my bike is pretty recognisable, some of you other readers may have spotted it since or may know where it is now based. I would greatly appreciate any information any of you have as to its whereabouts, although I'm slowly accepting the idea that it may be gone forever.

Fingers crossed one of you may have seen a **bright red Carlton with silver forks **and WOODEN HANDLEBARS that I made myself.

Should anyone provide information regarding its whereabouts, I would be happy to make a pair of bars like these as a reward.

Good luck to everyone and many thanks in advance.

    Nick

  • Agree it should be standard practice to post as much info as poss, so here we go with a proper effort with mine.

Make/Model: Klein Adept Comp full suspension.
Colour: Orange with bursts of yellow (see pic)
    Manitou forks
    Bontrager seat
New Shimano XT M771 Rear Derailleur (should be sparkling as less than 2 weeks old)
Frame number: CH0009076 on bottom bracket or drive side dropout (I forget which)

Stolen Sunday 30th May from Stoke Newington, Allen Road.

Just saw my stolen Klein bike on Kingsland Road at about 945pm tonight. Looked like a white guy w. a blonde pony tail, but couldn't see much else. Chased him on foot but couldn't get anywhere near.

Anyway, point is, if anyone sees it on Kingsland Road or the Dalston/Shoreditch area (it's been spotted on Kingsland Road twice now, with the same descrip for the rider) pls let me know. It might be futile but I've still got an inkling of hope.

  • The good thing about your bike is that the theft think it's too generic to be notice again, and it being a full suspension MTB, hardly an incommon bicycle in their neck of wood, which also explain the number of spotting (as well as the bright paintjob).

keep looking for it, and always carry proof that it belong to you all the time, never pay them if they demand to be refunded otherwise they won't learn.

  • Anyone heard of a lost blue and white carbon fibre Trek? Spotted an odd character heading north on one... really weird.

Jon Snow's Gran Fondo has been nicked, too.

  • a 3 weeks old bicycle that cost £700, so yes, too good to be true.

  • Too good to be true? http://www.gumtree.com/london/61/62107861.html

Good spot, almost definitely stolen. Search for his phone number and 'Peter' is also 'Jack' selling a Genesis hybrid that's 2 months old, apparently: http://www.gumtree.com/london/72/61011972.html

Hopefully you're right there. I've photocopied my proof of ownership and I'll hopefully catch them riding along Kingsland Rd again soon.

  • Had my black Brompton S2L stolen from Kingston on Saturday .. you can read see a photo of the thief and a video of him nicking it on my blog ... http://u.elyob.com/aWnCCb ... am trying to find the f**ker myself. The police are being fairly useless..

Oh, and don't ask about the lock. I know.
