Stolen bikes

  • Had my bike nicked tuesday night from outside the Pineapple in Kentish town

60cm unbranded cobalt blue alu frame
    Campag pista cranks
CXP33 rims laced on Campag pista hubs
    Columbus Muscle carbon fork
    Titanium Flite saddle
    Profile bullhorn bars

Then it was posted on gumtree last night - http://www.gumtree.com/london/49/62232449.html
at first look the bike in the picture wasn't mine (same frame), but then read the description which basically says as per the pic but with titanium saddle, carbon forks and "Campagnola racing pedals" - Pretty bloody sure its mine so I messaged the guy within 40 minutes of it being posted under the premise of just being a regular punter after a cheap hack, but got no reply so can only assume I saw it too late and they've got rid.

Phoned the police who told me they wouldn't be doing anything about it, they wouldn't accompany me if a rendevouz was arranged and their advice was not to go at all. I said I may be prepared to pay the asking price to get it back to which i was told If I manage to buy it back I would effectively handling stolen goods! Unbelievable.

Anyway, sorry to bang on, just appealing to anyone who may have seen it / been offered it etc to get in touch. Sure i've got a couple of pics knocking round, I'll try to post one over the weekend

  • @ teddycorona bad luck mate what lock did you use?

  • middling quality cable type. Chopped straight through it. Found it in a bin round the back of the pub. Shan't be scrimping on my next lock, that's for sure

  • Eh?

Any reported theft gets a crime no for insurance purposes??

It's good to get somebody important on the side of cyclists. Jus lik good ol' Boris.

    reported theft = inaction.
reported theft = Mayor's cycle theft task force swing into action

    spot the difference...

  • I said nuting about action. Just that the Police will give you a crime reference number for insurance purposes.

he gets a crime number when so many other don't
    thats criminal in itself

    Spot the difference.

Looks like it's been stripped,as far as the guy can get. The BB obviously defeated him. Phone number says he has sold other parts in past.

  • I recognised it actually, i seen it ridden by a courier I think.

  • Saw a builder/road worker take a helmet of a specialised racing bike today.
The bike was in a taped of bike area with a sign on saying "DO NOT LOCK YOUR BIKES HERE BUILDING WORKS HAPPENING". The builder unclipped the helmet which was not even locked and walked away.
I confronted him and ask him what he was doing, he then replied "Fuck off" and jumped into his van.
Took the number plate and reported it to the police station.

This all happened in Kingston Upon Thames in the apple market square outside Nat West bank.

  • Well done. I hope they searched his lock up. Takes guts to make a stand.

I know not all workmen are like this, but a lot of them are.

everyone get a crime number if you bother to report it

  • This nice looking white thing with purple rims is being sold now at Broadway Market:

    hope someone gets it back.

  • STOLEN THIS AFTERNOON FROM LOCKED ROOF RACK LONG LANE SE1

Condor Lavoro Track in Rapha Condor colours

Unique - has wave fork painted to match (actually pink a shade out)

Sugino cranks, Miche hubs, Campag front brake, MKS pedals with old school clips and straps...

    Please look out for it!

    Best

  • Anyone had a saddle and seatpin stolen near old street today? Have just found one on city road. If you think it's your message me the make and i'll get it back to you.

  • As seen on Gumtree just now, courtesy of Bikeshed;

    http://www.gumtree.com/london/38/62153938.html
Bike is so 'beloved' Barry doesn't even know what the wheel size is. Probably hasn't got time to measure the wheels as he's too busy also selling a Specialized Hard Rock...

He's put it up again but now his name's Barnsley. The picture has been turned sideways too... What an ingenious distraction.

Not mine or any one I know but if you spot the guy is offering a reward. Would just be good to get it back to him.

  • Although I thoroughly condemn the police for not taking bike theft seriously, it must be crap knowing that even if they do catch this scum, they'll only get a suspended sentence which means nothing. I'm all for UKIP's proposed '3 strikes and you're out' policy ('out' meaning you'll get a long-term stretch). Put this career criminal scum away for a long time and let them get arse raped in prison. It's about time the government took Policing seriously and gave them more time to tackle crime on the street.

  • Anybody lost a baby blue/kinda green single speed with white deep V's and white drops.

I saw a kid cruising around with it last night heading from Queens Park to Kilburn.

I hate to judge but by the look of him and his mate, it didn't really seem like his kind of bike.

  • I saw the guy on the orange klein mountain bike with the blonde pony tail this morning on shoreditch high street at the juction with bethnal green road at around 09:15.........

hahahahahaha! Thank you for adding some Daily Hate spice to my morning.

  • Not Stolen yet,but looking at how i noticed it was locked it can't be long.

  • Brand new bike too. Dumb fuck. No Fucking Sympathy.

I ride Long Lane often, will look out for the Lavoro, Dusty. Bit blingy to be leaving on a roof rack in SE1 (or anywhere), but you already know that. The hard way.

  • ^^^^ Bloody hell, that is a bit special, steal the saddle and get a free bike too. not even an allen key job
