The one in the advert was the one which was at the bike show!

Nhatt, I'm not sure where you're going with this. Lots of us have broken the law of the land and personally, unless I went public and was proud of the fact, I wouldn't appreciate you outing me for something I'd done in the past. Particularly if it damaged my business or affected the livelyhood of my employees.
I get that you're trying to point out that a stolen bike was found in BLB, but to put this last sentence on the forum to support your argument is going too far IMO. I would have believed you (cos I know you're totally awesome) whether you'd added it or not.

your right fred, I got a bit carried away, mostly through being very very pissed off about the whole thing and probably went too far.
The whole intention of the post was to tell people to write down the serial number on their bikes, and to have a look inside BLB because one was found their recently. The rest of it, though true, is me just being being a dick.

quite simple though Fred, if you don't want to ever be called a drug dealer, don't deal drugs!
that aside, any shop that deals in lots of S/H stuff is going to get hooky gear coming in, I have no idea what precautions they make identify what they are buying, but I don't imagine that it's very easy.

Shops buying second-hand goods should at least ask for ID from the seller and keep a record of it.
Makes sense to me!
+1 serial numbers. -
• #1160
actually, anyone know where on what bits the serial numbers are?
-
• #1161
usually on the underside of the botton bracket
-
• #1162
not everything has a serial number, frames usually the underside of the BB shell, but I've seen plenty that don't..

• #1163
ha!

RPM, I totally agree, it must be very hard not to end up with stolen goods in your shop. I don't know how they go about sourcing they're bikes, it might be that this was just a weird one off. But still, it's worth a look if your missing your bike.

just a thought,, is there no way of removing the defamation of character from the original post?
-
• #1166
Nhatt could edit it.
-
• #1167
surely if it's true then it isn't a defamation, it's simply me being rude?

that being said, i'm willing to take the last bit out. It's not really relevant, and on top of it I know other projects that were funded that way that I do support.

hmm. You've never made a mistake? Are you the same person you were 5 years ago?

that's why I didn't quote you. And anyway we all know you're still awesome :-)

are you much different than you were two years ago, Fred?

thanks, honey. In some ways I feel a bit crap about dragging all this up, glad to hear that you don't hate me for it.

depends what you mean by "mistake"

what I'm getting at is that people have the power to change themselves for the better if they choose to. If they are forced to carry around the baggage of their past actions, it gets a bit more difficult. I'm not saying that no-one should not consider or escape the consequences of their actions though, but in general it's not for me to be their judge.
Yep I'd like to think I'm a marginally better person than I was a few years ago :-0

Not really; you should have seen her back then.
Crikey!
I thought BLB sourced their bikes from Italy..
