  • not forgetting that girls were also girls

  • back when men were men.

Back when he was on a pan flat drag strip with 3000 vehicles per hour going past at only about 10mph above his speed.

He was still pedalling at about 90rpm; even with a 1:1 gear ratio, you're doing about 9mph at that cadence, which is more than most people here can hold up a climb worthy of the name.

  • I know I know, but I just like that picture.

  • Can you just switch out individual cogs to give you the range you'd want?

  • I think the ramps and position of the teeth on the cogs are designed to work together so if you start mixing and matching they won't line up and it'll screw up the shifting. Plus the larger cogs are often mounted on a single carrier (and I think some SRAM cassettes are even one-piece).

  • campy 11 has top 6 cogs in two chunks. Gaps are biggest at the end of the block so they need to be in correct increments.

  • Marchisio make a mix and match system of sprockets .. There are some restrictions to the combinations and I'm guessing if you're using an alloy freehub it would eat into that which is one of the benefits (aside weight) on a shallow Shimano spline freehub of bunching the sprockets on a carrier to spread load.

  • lest we forget our Alf, who rode 56 x 12/13/14

    These are not my glasses!

  • Previously in Bike Porn (for some odd reason)

  • Love them 'Dales

  • ^i normally don't like them but this one is nice

  • they never look right to me with the steel fork.
the larger tubed frame makes the forks look anorexic.
    lovely colour though.

On the contrary my friend, I think the chunky tubes compliments the skinny forks which creates a beautifully juxtapositioned frame.

  • those would be the original forks though I suppose.
    so ill stand rebuked.
but I think they look nicer with a carbon fork. is all.

  • Which groupset is on that moots?

Yeah they would; but hey! Everyone has a right to their own opinion.

  • Yeah. Sorry, what year? I hate the new design, where the hoods curve inwards but am interested in that design.

its a total moral dilemma. keep it og. or make it ride nicer.
    what would you do ?

I'm going to have to go with the latter.

said it before and i'll say it again, it's the skinny STs on 'dales that make them work

  • Shimano Simplex derailleur/crank, Carbolite 103 frame, Mavic rims h/bars.
I've never owned a road bike before, this one clearly needs a bit of work doing to it, I've got to decide whether to strip it down completely, clean everything, replace bearings etc, or just leave the bits on, check the wheels and replace the chain and start using it.
    Decisions decisions..
