We all have our prejudices, at least you recognise yours.
I quite like Cannondales, as is probably quite obvious.
The reason why I do is based on their work pioneering aluminium design- current state of the art being demonstrated in the CAAD10, and now their work in pushing the boundaries of carbon fibre design with the Super Six Evo Nano.

there's a fag paper between most manufacturer's flagship bikes
↑This, but also for most of us there's no worthwhile difference between a flagship Cannondale/Cervelo/Colnago and a mid-price Giant or Trek. If you're still paying for your own bike, everything premium is delusion, vanity and big boys' toys.

Or L'Oréal syndrome. At the same time though I'm not above spoiling myself.

A man has to have a vice, nice bike parts happen to be mine.
I'm fine with this.

Agree, if it wasent bikes it would be something else. Rather spend on silly bike purchases than a new 3k lens for a camera or something similar, that in my world seems outrageous! 250gbp stems not so much :) Atleast cycling gets you outdoors and healthy!

the worst bike ever posted
Fair enough, but I hate them. Not really sure why, but I really do. I guess it's what makes the world an interesting place, we're all different.
What I will say though is that if you believe everything the mags say on their product reviews, more fool you. Having worked for a bike manufacturer for several years I know from experience that review results are more based on advertising spend and whether you expect the bike back again after testing than the limited hours they actually spend testing the kit. Basically they can't afford to upset their advertisers as that's where the money is, not in the cover price. Obviously they don't intentionally mislead their customers, but...
And call me cynical if you like, but the pro teams will use and endorse the bikes of the highest bidding manufacturer. I'm sure there's a fag paper between most manufacturer's flagship bikes in quantifiable performance terms after all.
