Rotating weight has more impact than any other weight.
Also, cheaper to lose 1kg fat.

I'm not sure how you'd build up that frame any better if better equals faster (aesthetics aside).

bigger chainring.

We all know that FYI. but what's the point. They cost an absolute fortune. Why get into the soul-destroying and wallet-emptying diminishing returns one hand, then plump for retro hipster-bait on the other? A quill stem lol. Must be a dare.

i reckon shallow carbon clinchers would suit it quite nicely if you didnt wanted wheels that were "different".

It's like putting nitrous oxide kit in a Morris Countryman (and other invalid but weakly amusing comparisons).

I imagine the owner has a real soft spot for the frame and feels the small performance penalty (next to something newer) is worth it.

to once again use this metaphor, to me, that merckx, would be like taking an old E type and putting chrome spinners and a shiny exhaust on it.
beaten to it by SP...

Car analogies? Please don't.

ftfy ;-)

...except you didn't. Because it makes no sense.

FTFY (whatever, by the way)

was going to change it t something more performance orientated but couldn't be ars..

Zipp 303 Firecrest, the extra 200g is easily offset by the superior aerodynamics, even more so if there's any kind of crosswind.

Probably because the performance gain from putting those wheels on an MX-Leader far exceed the performance gain available by using the old wheels in an EMX-5 frame.

False dichotomy.

• #55393
It looks like an effective build, getting a classic frame up to speed.
Yes the wheels are a bit bling, but I bet it's lovely to ride and own.

False dichotomy.
Yes, in the sense that for the cost of a pair of Lightweights you could buy a whole bike which would outperform that thing, but it would be a PX not a Merckx :-)

one day i will come up with a weird and confusing build just for you guys to make your brains explode.

Meh, too many spacers and lack of bar tape :/ (and a frame with a personality crisis, trying waaaay too hard to be cool)

• #55398
Non drive side...

• #55399
radial, short sem + setback seatpost, saddle angle, seatpost is ugly, do not want Dodici branded rims....AND no magnets at work!

might want to save weight to take down all those stairs though...
