Nice (despite mixture of components SR and C-R; I would have opted for better functioning shifters, e.g. Simplex or Campy Retrofriction) ^^^

It's Campag SR and Croce d'aune but agreed, lovely Schwinn

Of course, that's what I wrote: C-Roce d'Aune ;-)
Obvious, with the 5-arm crank and screwed top-piece of the brake.
Anyway, nice bike. Bit too much rim cement. -

Doesn't some percentage of the money made from the pink king stuff go to some breast cancer charity?

good enough to make it to this thread, but not enough to have the photo embedded?

But what was the original argument here? I can't see how what your hands are gripping onto affects skidding / pedal breaking?
The distance between your hands? Position of shoulders or upperbody? Good grip?distance between your hands and distance from your knees. HUGE factor in pedaling when out of the saddle. Similarly, if you're riding a fixed gear, it makes a difference when slowing down quickly as well.
wider bars give you a lot more leverage to pull the bike into your pedal stroke, which you should be doing when standing.

The point that was made was that riding brakeless with drops cannot be done as the rider cannot stop with drops.
I tend to disagree as I ride brakeless with drops and can stop just as easily as with flats/risers. I do use the drop part of the bars though where a very strong grip can be obtained for braking and accelerating (actually far better for accelerating than flats IMO)

if you tried it - for a few days - with a wider set of risers i think you'd change your opinion. anyway whateves

stem is, as site puts it,
a rare Titan stem (similar to cinelli design) coming directly from Belgium from the '60
everything on this site seems to be "rare" and "unique"
so rare and unique it's starting to hurt...

I switch between risers and drops regularly so my opinion is a very informed one, for a change :-)
Can never make my mind up - seem to enjoy the ride with risers more but feels like I can go twice as fast when using drops. If you want maximum leverage then grabbing the drops is far better than grabbing a riser bar.

Yeah you're right the 2nd one is def porn!

I haven't used risers on a fg yet, but IM-uninformed-O drops give you a whole load more hand positions... I think allot of ppl just have the bars lower down than they'd have risers for looks, so its not really a fair comp.
Great. If it were mine the 1st thing I'd do is put nice swept back bars, like on old French and English town bikes. You know the ones made from... METAL.
