If someone like welds which look like scar tissue ;-)

its a german downhill mtb frame manufacturer, i dunno if they care about the welds, but i know what you mean :D
if i got one, i'd be tempted to get it raw, and sit there with a file for hours filing the welds smooth :) -

£1150 for a 1.5kg aluminium frame; good luck selling that, Nicolai!

i think their bikes are made to order so if no one orders and it doesn't matter, does it?
plus its bike porn, not lets compare bike prices. -

OK, ignoring the price, it's probably the least porn-worthy frame in the Nicolai range. But price is not irrelevant if you think porn has to include function in the mix alongside beauty, because a bike which is substantially overpriced for its objective virtues is a fail unless the aesthetic attributes account for the balance.
This is about the same weight and price as the Nicolai, but it's probably pretty enough to carry it off

@atomcf - the rourke may not be beautiful but I think it's better looking than the frame you posted.

there isn't much Brian Rourke doesn't know about making racing bike frames, would rather have a frame from him than some upstart company that cares more about sparkly paint than how the bike performs.
i know somebody with a deda tubed Rourke in the orange/blue gulf porsche colours, it's a lovely bike, he uses it for racing though not posing at the pub.

erm... ok, sorry i said i like a frame :D
@MrSmyth - i didn't say the rourke was bad, its probably way better than the nicolai as rourke obviously have so much more experience at building road bikes, but i prefer the way the nicolai looks, especially the rear triangle. imho, if a frames not made of 531/colubus or other narrow tubing, it should look modern, like the rear tringle of the nicolai :)
@german marc ahh yes, they say their welds are 'nice and smooth' hahahaha. they obviously know how to weld though :)

i know rourke is an expert builder but there is still something about that style of seat stay wihen its fillet brazed joining the seat tube
i dnt know why but i just hate the look of it -

You obviously aren't familiar with Nicolai.

I just fucking hate white saddles and bar tape! After tyres, they're the worst parts to have white. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
contact points = black or brown :)
-
• #21573
it's not always about dirt in life SP
I'll spend a couple of days looking for a deep wine red paintjob and you tell me the white tape and bars don't make it beautiful..

function over fashion.
Bet that fork shaped clipless seat makes for an unconfortable ride though.
