Also seems a good idea, ask for a bit of history on the frame some papers etc.

What are you thinking, "1990" suggests that they're ~22 years old, robbed the bike and flogging it on eBay?

I emailed for more info on the bike and the reply was he didn't know anything as he was selling it for his dad.

get the frame no. on pretext of making sure it's not fake, get in touch with Bob Jackson, ask them to contact original owner to make sure it's not nicked?
