Charlie Cunningham is from California, what would he know about UK riding? It's no surprise that the great popularisers of MTB disc brakes were Hope (UK) and Magura (DE), both from countries where it sometimes rains.

You have half a point, however you obviously have never seen me ride off road, cantis/roller cams/drum brakes/Vs are plenty powerful enough to reduce my speed (if that is in fact the right word.)

Not necessarily a bargain but selling a pair of matching trousers gives it another angle
