what is wrong with Hillary
Dunno, but something's wrong with the colour scheme /graphics on that bike - or is it just me?
-
• #12958
it's just you and Hilary Stone is often disliked for his tactics at bike jumbles..
-
• #12959
i wonder how much he paid for the merckx? he doesn't seem to have the heart for a project like that.
-
• #12960
That merckx was on either dutch or belgian ebay...I was pretty tempted to have a bid but am rather short til the 'nag arrives.
I posted a link to a smaller one very much like it offered in sweden!
It's actually panto'd with the riders name - that is pretty cool

Flying Scot Pista Frame - Auction - UK
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180347577649&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohostingI'm certanly no expert and don't want to offend anybody on the forum, but those chips on the seat tube, aren't they a sign of a poor painting job? Also looks like the BB wasn't properly masked, isn't there some paint inside the BB thread?

I had a couple of such Benotto's in the 80's.
I think 2x 3000's in this Champaign color, 2x in red and finally the first Benotto "Aero" (5000?).
I liked them mainly because Moser rode them.
No bad frames at all.
The problem was the NL distributor.
Finally, I wanted a Colnago. But then I was still young, so you can't blame me for that. ;-) -

Anyone on here win this? I didn't post it before the auction ended cos I was hoping it was going to go for a total bargain, cos I only wanted the wheels- a couple of people I know run them on their polo bikes and they are seemingly indestructable!

Think it's going to get used as a polo bike????
-
• #12971
funny, the listing has been removed???
-
• #12972
it's just you and Hilary Stone is often disliked for his tactics at bike jumbles..
How interesting, do tell more, what tactics does he use? is he like one of those little old ladies at the January sales
-
• #12973
hehe, not far off. people get upset because he goes early and spends money.
-
• #12974
I have no experience of him I'm afraid Mr.Buddha, I think dogsballs was the one who explained it before..
I've heard tell that he's grabbed frames out of peoples hands in order to buy them, pays sellers before the jumbles in order to get stuff first and is generally rather ruthless

hilarious,, did you think that an item with MAG WHEELS in the title would really slip under the radar?
From the colour scheme it looks as though the original owner really wanted a Benotto! -
