Hi all.
Just coming to the end of my first fixed build. Got nice old Falcon road frame in a car boot, recycled as many parts as possible as budget really tight. Been searching for a rear wheel after I stripped the thread on the hub trying to put sprocket on a la Sheldon(we live and learn I guess!). Think I've found one now courtesy of this wonderful site. Will put pics up soon as I get it rolling.
Great site! Anyone else in South Wales?

Hello all,
I've been reading the forum for a while and have met a couple of the forum members but had forgotten to introduce myself here.
I live in London, have an On One Pompino for commuting on nasty days like today, and a Condor Pista that I bought new four years ago that comes out on dry days.
My newest purchase - from this forum - a Blue Bob Jackson which I will try and build up over the coming weeks into my all-weather mudguarded commuter. Assuming the credit crunch doesn't get in the way of plans. Once that's built, the Pompino will have to be sold because I don't have the room to store so many bicycles, nor days to ride them.
Thanks!

Hi all. great forum and very funny. Building my first fixed out of old Brit steel frame. Will no doubt bore you all silly soon with questions but not "What gear?" You'll be amused that one of my cycling friends was recommending 52 x 13!

hi all - question on stems. does anyone know if its possible to put a quill type stem on a surly steamroller?
-
• #839
Depends on the fork you use. Do you mean stock Steamroller fork?
EDIT: Stock Steamroller fork is THREADLESS 1 1/8th so you'd need a threaded 1 1/8th fork which = fail.
Threadless ftw

While we're on forks... I need a new steel fork, preferably sloping crown - Cinelli type. Someone I know has mentioned Tange. Any rep on them? And any alternatives? Best sources? Got to be 1-inch threaded. Still hoping I can dig up an old Brit fork but I'm hedging my bets!

Not sure what "cut it" means. Just a cyclist and a name. Didn't see any funny stuff about names in the Advice for New Members. I figured "I am a complete arse but other members know that and are quite accepting" would do for me. You know anything about forks RPM?
