hello - i've been on a few days now, looking around getting to know the regulars. It's a bit like walking into a small town pub and everyone stops drinking and turns round to check you out. I'm looking forward to getting some friendly advice and meeting some folk - already met up with a nice chap called noelpt who set me up with a cheap front wheel. thanks Noel. Not looking forward to getting advice like " you need a negative shim mate"

Hello.
Having been roundly lambasted last week for using the f-word I'll try again here with acronyms.
Arguably got too many bikes already but looking to tweak one existing one to SS and build up another frame to be FG - Project F****.
Look forward to learning from you, and to continuing the biff in that nursery thread of course ;)

...You're not the only one to notice the trend. For the last 5 years there have been three or maybe four of us cycling to work in an office of about 200. In the last few months I've counted 8 bikes in the rack on a couple of occasions, once was when two of the original riders weren't on theirs.
I tell you, man - the tide is turning!

It may be turning, but very slowly. My employer will not introduce teh Bike to Work scheme because the HR boffin thinks, thats thinks not knows, that not enough people will take it up. Drives me mad.....

Advised here (wisely). It's all too boring. Fixed - growing respect. Frame - arriving soon. Gear - to be selected but c 70-inch. Location - Norfolk. Where? drive NNE from London and stop before you hit the coast/wankerbelt. Tea, heavy cake always available chez nous. Build details to follow.

Norfolk...please make sure you realise the jokes about peoples mothers are in fact jokes ;)

Hi all, been lurking for awhile. Been riding bmx for a decade, finally decided to save my back on those long journeys and get myself a big boys bike for commuting. I'm obviously very used to this single speed malarkey so I've dived in at the deep end - although I am going to run a freewheel for awhile - is this a shootable offense?

strayans call 'em fixies and I see nothing wrong with it. I don't tend to use 'fixie' but I get annoyed at newbs being hounded down about it. I would much prefer to hassle them personally :)

Perhaps we should call non fixed/SS bikes "gearies" as in "look at the old dearie on his gearie".
