  • ceramic open pro's work for me

  • ^^ is that for sale paul?!

Sorry they're meant for the nag.

  • ooh they're nice though! what are they and where were they from if you don't mind me asking?

  • silver open pros J, 36h, built well

i agree with you, it would be nice if they were like old steel wheels in terms of shinyness but I reckon they're so universally hailed as a good rim you'd only get Deep Vs these days for trick heavy riding, which you won't be doing.

saying that I'm with Teddy completely about not worrying how a wheel will affect your speed, I'm never going to be fast enough to need to prove anything.

  • ooh they're nice though! what are they and where were they from if you don't mind me asking?

All from T de V. built up by Keith with Hoshi spokes, 16 to 32.

  • hell's bells, you're really putting a lot of thought into this nag aren't you? cannot wait to see it.

  • Hatta BB and headset
Dura ace seatpost, crank, hubs and sprocket
    Nitto Pearl with 380mm B123a's
    Kashimax black suede saddle
MKS Custom Nuevo Royale pedals and toe clips
    Ultremo tubs.
    KMC chain from the States.
    Orange Bennotto bar tape.

  • wowee, hot damn. orange? ;)

  • Bike Porn in the making!

  • man, that does sound fantastic, getting it all ready for Herne Hill then??

  • Goes with the logo;

  • sch-wing.

  • Anyone rolling on Open Pros 32 radial front and 32 3cross back? I'm considering changing hubs and wondered what they look like (hint - post a piccy please). Considering 36 back but seeing as i currently have 32s thought i'd see what they look like and save myself buying another rim. Also - is it safe to reuse a rim and thread it a different way? Thanks!

  • Wait,is 3cross even possible on a 32? Think mine may be 2cross...

  • Araya RC-540

+1 I ride the same rims on my bike.

  • Wait,is 3cross even possible on a 32? Think mine may be 2cross...

    3cross is no problem on a 32..

  • That'll not be great. Over-stiff on the front wheel, plus shitty in to steer.

The rear wheel is the one to build strong. That's why you build 3 cross rear, and radial front without problems.

If your worried about the strength of the front but must have it radial, then perhaps go for 36h.

i doubt the rear will be weak a 3x open pro will be fine especially in 36.

    i have 3x 28h and they're perfectly strong.

  • +1 I ride the same rims on my bike.

    +2 low profile rims FTW

  • +2 low profile rims FTW

    What rims do you have?

  • i doubt the rear will be weak a 3x open pro will be fine especially in 36.

Yeah, I didn't say it'd be weak did I? Just over build at the front.

    ;-)

  • If anyone wants a nice tubular wheelset I have these I don't use anymore. Just make me an offer.

  • Hello

Building some wheels for a fixed steel 531 project. Got some hubs now trying to sort rims out. Been recommended Mavic CXP33's and can get pairs of black 32H for around 85-90 quid online. Anyone got any other recommendations for other rims or comments about the CXP33's?

    Cheers
    Ben

  • I put halotrack wheels on my fixed steel project which look pretty good, they cost 30quid for the RIM on halorims.com but i'm not sure if they have an online store. I just bought them built from a bike shop in Southampton

  • if you type CXP33 in to the search thing up there you get a list of threads; this is one of them
    http://www.lfgss.com/thread23023.html

also you'd have better luck putting this in bikes and bits rather than general

  • oh yes,has to be deep v's this week, nothing else will do.
