Yeah.
Might as well keep them till your puncturing and deflating daily for good. No point chopping them in, till they're well done

The tyre is still holding good pressure- I only noticed I'd had a puncture when I thought to check how worn the tyre was getting.
Obviously it might be flat when it's time to go home, but if it was going to go down I'd have thought it would have done so at the time I got the puncture.
Interesting to see.

Dammit, what gunk are you using??

Even if it goes down by home time, you can pump it up to get home. As it'll just be a slow one.
I'd guess s it's held, it'll hold. As you say, it would have just gone straight away.

Quality. Got to get me some of that. That tyre looks properly square too. Thats a Conti Comp, yeah?
Or a Sprinter..
-
• #1358
It's a Sprinter Gatorskin, on my fixed commuter- it might have been skidded on.

When I was last buying MTB gunk. I was very taken by the foaming cafe latex.
A mate has just bought some Cafe latex 'expresso'. Which appears to be a pitstop can with foaming cafe latex in.
Think this will be my next purchase.

I'm not sure if your taking the piss or not SF!
Is there a super light 'skinny latte' version?
1410.7 mile London commute on a Fixed skidder with a tub? Jeez. Fair play to you!
-
• #1361
Not at all.
The stuff is interesting because it foams, and thus should coat better.
The normal latex, intended for tubeless MTBing, is pretty good.
Here is the pit stop-esque one.

The last one coped with 1,565.7 miles before I decided it was dead, I'll be interested to see what the current one can clock up before dying.
The front tyre is now on 2,976.5 miles.

Ok. Guess the foam makes sense.
Dammit, I guess you move the rear tyre to the front when you think its had enough. I do. I found that when I wear a tyre down its the squareness of the profile and shit cornering that make me retire them.
-
• #1364
The bike which they are on is purely used for London commuting- cornering doesn't really come into it that much, I binned the last one as it had started to look a bit like a rubber doily.

Sure it can be pushed back.. or you leave it off... My wife lost one of the rings on her C-Record rear wheel a long time ago.. never missed it.. Unless you have "lawyer's lips" you don't need to twiddle things... (the ring is a Tullio design element that a lot of modern QRs don't even bother with)
Tx :)
Yes I thought you could do w/o anyway. Bit of anality going on here, as the other wheel does have the ring. Must...match...visually...
"Twiddle" that's a technical term... ;)

Possibly useful for setting up tubeless conversions but for tubs I don't really see the relevance?

I actually read that Stans was better for initial set-up which is why I went with that. Wouldnt the foaming action make sure it found the puncture that little bit quicker?

It's the only sealant recommended by Dugast, presumably because it doesn't clog up the latex inner tube in the way standard sealant does.
-
• #1369
That's interesting. I'd have thought it would be more susceptible to drying out. Greater surface area and all that.

• #1370
Can anyone here recommend me a decent, durable tub for 50/50 use on track (concrete - and im not really racing, just blasting around) and road?
-
• #1371
conti competition
-
• #1372
Conti sprinter gatorskin will do the same job for a bit less cost.
-
• #1373
That sealant looks interesting. I might try some in my race tubs.

• #1374
Where is the cheapest source of Gatorskins these days.

The Zoo.
