Decided to fit an old Stronglight chainset to my Gios to get lower gearing. It looked shit so I took the drill to it last night and now I have to say it looks orgasmic. Will post pics later.

As the local forecast is for thunderstorms Saturday/Sunday.
I'm on route not far from Gios Torino having a beer in a motorway hotel.

Was in Gaoile this evening for a pizza and a beer and the locals were muttering darkly about the weather on Saturday so expecting the full Tuscan Toothpaster Experience come Sunday.
There does seem to be a load of stuff going on from now until Sunday although can't be sure that I've read the posters properly (should read: haven't a clue what the posters say). Reckon there's a couple of film showings at least. Oh, and the flea market appeared to be open for (very limited) business this evening, had a quick look and then heard Mr Moretti's siren call......

Myself and Billundben just arrived in Gaiole. Beautiful day here! Shame that the forecast says it won't last.
Haven't ventured into the village yet, we're sitting on the Castello de Spaltenna terrace drinking a beer.
We've brought over 2 Holdsworths, will try and post a pic once they're unpacked and assembled. Please say hi if you spot us!

Has anyone London(ish) got a bike bag or box I could borrow for the Guerciotti? Happy to pay in cash, beers or whatever works. Normally hire one but as usual have left things to the last minute and they are all gone - only need it once a year! Cheers all. Can't wait to get out there now.
urr, seen this too late, as i'm away, but got a dhb bag lying at home in surrey, i'm yet to offload. If anyone wants after sat next week, £40 pickup in London, £30 pickup in surrey (will spend £20 on train picking it up!). just like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/dhb-roller-cycle-travel-bag-/321219991312?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&hash=item4aca341710
I'm gutted to miss L'eroica. Have a blast u lot, just start early and avoid tubs! fingers crossed see u next year.

Bugger, can't find any Cinelli cork bar tape in black and I gave my spare to Cycliste. I'll be the one on the Hetchins with a hole in the bar tape on the left hand side of the handlebars...

See you there tomorrow afternoon. Me and Nick should be arriving about 2pm, remember the orange twins from last year... Looking forward to that Saturday prosecco breakfast and looks like the hotel facilities might be well used this year with the weather! Now to pack the bastard into a box...
-

Cheers anyway 105, managed to track down the last remaining pod in the southeast so all should be well. About to start the traditional hour or so of cursing to get the bastard thing packed and then its wine, beer, steak and sleep. See everyone tomorrow, whats a bit of rain anyway? All the more (h)eroic eh?

See if they have a spare room in the spalteri for me.....I'm not looking forward to the camping bit!
I'll be landing in Pisa about 6.30, then driving down.... -
• #317
Ha ha will do Pat! We are flying in to Pisa too, for some reason the Bologna flights were crazy money this year. See you in the square for a few jars I'm sure, safe flight and all that jazz.

No nutters, fingers crossed!.....I'm turning my nutter magnet off!

Flew in this morning, and following a day strolling round Florence (come on honey, it's not just a cycling holiday...) landed at My One Hotel in Radda.
If anyone has any decent firmish bike boxes that won't trigger an excess charge (with tools), I'd love to see 'em. At least I got my moneys worth at 31kgs..
-
• #320
Don't!
I got away with 32kg on the way out last year, but they got me for €70 coming back. You can upgrade for £85, and that gives you double the luggage allowance, apparently..... I'm wondering if it's worth doing from the off? -
• #321
Do it. You might have space for a nice new frame ;)
Weather's taken a bit of a turn today so probably going to get my market/registration done today before the expected downpour tomorrow.
-
• #322
Just assembled the bikes, which seem to have survived the flight ok. Off to register and grab a coffee now...
-
• #323
Nice one :0)
Just off to gatwick now .... I'm full of cold and feel like shit! Just getting my excuses in early :0) -
• #324
Have a good flight Stedlocks.
We just saw a flyer at registration for "L'Eroica Britannia"! It's going to be held in the Peak District next June. I recon they must have stolen the idea from Tilover...

• #325
Ha!
He had it in his grasp!
Cheers guys, see you when I'm there.... I'm rubbish with names , but I'll recognise the bikes ;0)
Pm rossco....I think he is in need of an entry ;0)
