  • I live in Bristol now (as it's about a million times better than London in every way) so I don't have to deal with the new wave of white middle class tools everybody is moaning about so much.

    Win/Win!

You are the new wave of white middle class tools currently arriving in Bristol...

You realise you'll never be able to move back if you sell, except to Morden, which is nice.

  • Regular accurance, check the flood defences on a couple of houses on Dulwich Road

Fireman told me it was a burst water main as I tried to get past this morning. Could be wrong though. I tweeted a picture of it and got contacted by a journalist asking if I had any video (6 o'clock news main headline I assume). I replied saying I hadn't really thought it worth filming as it was essentially a large puddle. There was a boat in the road though which was pretty cool.

  • feel sorry for half moon, worked before there in 'the poet' briefly (think there is some sort of jazz/carribean tapas place now) and that was always a nice place.
their basement must be a right fucking mess right now.

  • Guilty.

But I live in Peckham Rye.

    Oh well.

Me too, Denman Rd, it was actually Peckham I was talking about.

Think the riot idea is a good one, I'd start with that new organic grocers that's opened on Bellenden Rd. Think it's called something like Quentin's Pantry and does a line in sustainable energy preserves.

  • There's quite a nice little cafe that opened on Barry road about 3 years ago now at the Rye end that is still in business- that they have not turned into a fried chicken shop was interesting. The location isn't ideal.

  • Half Moon's closed for a month apparently.

  • It's pretty fucked down there, I stupidly thought the newsagent on Half Moon Lane would be trading normally...

Spoke to John from Bon Velo Cycles, he seemed pretty chipper for someone whose livelihood has just been wrecked...

  • srsly?

were all of those little shops along there fsked?

  • Yup, both sides of the street... Even the little offie under the railway bridge was mopping up...

    Total devastation...

  • Went through threr ethis morning, thye've dug a fairly impressive hole to get at the water main that went pop, and it does indeed look like it would have been pretty bad for the businesses in that area.

Would this be covered on insurance, or into "act of God" territory?

  • Nah, Thames Water are apparently conceding some guilt - they held meetings with local shops / residents last night along with loss adjusters etc.

Complaint calls re. the leak were made to them the night before and they didn't act.

  • was speaking to the fruit and veg guys, they got away lightly, but the half moon is foooked, was saying the cellar was almost full up, like an Olympic swimming pool was the way he put it! night mare for them all down there.

  • ^ ^yep calls were made befor it went mental, Thames water said they didn't think it was an emergency so left it, then it went pop!!!

  • Went into the Duck Egg cafe last night - they are doing burger nights on Wednesdays and Thursday evenings.

Limited menu, two burger variants and a veggie option but very good. The onion ring sides are absolutely top notch. worth a visit.

  • I've been reading Urban75 for a short while (don't tell them I'm new - I may get banned) and it is fucking hilarious.

    That is all.

Actually: You also get trophies for posting! Fuck yes! Stupid LFGSS. We don't even get green pips.

  • It's worth it just for reading.

    Nsfw?

  • Haha. I'm going to out you Mrak

  • The "now and then" photos are funny. Old pictures of Brixton as the gentrified suburb it used to be.

Ha! Adrienne's dad lived in Stretham as a journalist in the late fifties(? Maybe early sixties). Nothing changes.

Or it does, and then it changes back.
