  • Is this too far gone? The cone is fucked but easily replaceable. Don't want to waste my money if I can avoid it.

I can catch my nail on the dirty line.

  • run a pen round the inner surface, if there is pitting you will know.

  • I went through this drawing but can some one tell me if this will fit me?

I used to ride CAAD 10 in 52 size like this:

    anyone?

  • I'd say it would fit you fine but to know for sure we'd need more info on your sizing and bike setup.

  • In most shimano cup & cone bearings, the actual contact direction is quite close to radial. So the dirt line isn't important - the load is carried further out on the race, and that's where you need to check for pitting.

  • how much better have ergopower brifters got since 1992? Vaguely looking for some to suit a group from 1991, the older ones would look better and be more appropriate, but would I be shooting myself in the foot? It's for a bike that will be ridden lots.

  • They have got loads better, some of the early Mirage Veloce Xenon ones were pretty sloppy and didn't last very long.
I wouldn't buy used ones from that vintage. They are rebuildable, fairly easily, if you have the bits, there are plenty of online guides.
But if you have lived with them ever since they were launched you will know that the new ones are much better functioning. I don't like the style of the latest ones and personally the 10 speed record carbon ergos are the nicest. Parts for most of the later ones are still easy to get.

  • I snapped off my cheap speedometer that I started using on my daily rider.

How do these sensormagnets thingys work? Could I just tape it in place on the fork? Or would that prevent the magnet / sensor interface?

    Cheers.

  • Should be fine.

Some speedo's I have used have relied on elastic bands to hold bits in place.

  • Just wondered if anyone on here has been inter railing through europe, looking to go in
June with a friend and needed to know how to approach it (hostels, amounts of money etc).

  • what's going down in kennington/brixton? a few sirens, loads of helicopters... :/

  • Sorry, yeah, that's just me coming back home.

  • they all fucked off all of a sudden. now seems very quiet.

  • Yeah, I hid underneath my neighbour's binbags and they've been thrown off the scent.

  • Would track bikes be allowed on roadie night at HH?

  • If you turn it into a freewheel, does it count as a road ish bike? Sorry I am not taking a mick, I honestly want to know if by road bike night do they mean road bikes with gears or do they mean any road useable bikes that ain't track...

  • Tempted to get a T-level bag, does anyone know what the warranty like? Their website isn't far off from a nightmare, great pictures but that's about it. I have had dealing with Chrome and Mission Workshop and both are great, especially MW. I shouldn't think I will ever need warranty with a backpack but it'd be good to know what the deal is with T-level. Cheers

  • Website is a fucking nightmare, but their bags are available in TFG and some German website... errr...

To be fair it is technically my road bike too, just with a small gear.

  • You know when cleats get stuck in shoes and you have to drill them out? How do you stop that from happening? Last time I had to drill them out I promised it wouldn't happen again... I've failed to keep my promise.

  • Give your drill away.

  • Snap, awaiting answer with baited breath. Am really, really hoping these aren't involved.

  • grease the cleat bolts. less creaking too.
