What's the shimano bb that Tester is always telling people to buy?
-
• #40733
The UN-55. I think.
-
• #40734
Either a UN54 or 55. I had one or the other and it was never less than reliable.
-
• #40735
Someone should build up a bike made entirely from Tester's recommendations... I'm sure that there can't be many parts he hasn't voiced an opinion on.
BB - Shimano UN-55
Wheels - Shimano RS-30
Chain - Wipperman? -

Stem - Pro PLT

Do 1" steerer spacers tend to have the same external diameter as 1 1/8th" spacers, or are there only particular ones that do? I'm pretty sure the ones I have at the moment are, but as I didn't buy the bike new I'm not sure where they came from.
Generally they are smaller, but I suppose a very thick walled 1" spacer could be the same OD as a very thin walled 1⅛" spacer. I've got a 1⅛" tapered FSA spacer here (designed to be the last one under the stem) on which the thin end is the same OS as a 1" Chris King spacer.
Back to this fascinating conversation.
I bought some 1" spacers, and the external diameter is fine, they will sit relatively flush with the top cap, so the aesthetic considerations are sorted.
However, the diameter of the lip of the top cap is wider than the internal diameter of the spacers. By ⅛", obviously.
Should I just file out a bit from the inside of the top spacer so it plops in, or will it be okay just sitting on top and compressing from there?

I thought it would be one of those dog-rough Pro seatposts?

German translation help needed.
Original:
Biete ein Kurbelset Rotor 3D Plus (OHNE SRM POWERMETER) an.
Kurbellänge 175mm
Lager 30mm
Offering Crankset Rotor 3D Plus at (SRM WITHOUT POWER METER).
Crank length 175mm
30mm
Sell the crankset as a defect because it is no longer so easily turned in the bearing shells for exchange
the crank sets all was well again, have no idea why this was so.
That's why I buy it as a defect.
And once they gain if you win only the crank with the 30mm axle is not the pictured SRM SYSTEM.Which is not helping me to be 100% certain that these arms/axle are fine and dandy.

"Verkaufe das Kurbelset als Defekt weil es sich nicht mehr so leicht drehte im den Lagerschalen" - selling as defective because they don't turn easily in the BB shell
"nach austausch des Kurbelsets war alles wieder gut " - after replacement of the cranks, it was all good again
"Deshalb verkauf ich es als Defekt" - that's why i'm selling as a defect
"Und noch einmal sie erwerben wenn Sie gewinnen nur die Kurbel mit der 30mm Achse nicht das abgebildete SRM-SYSTEM." - And once again if you win you are purchasing only the crank with the 30mm axle, and NOT the pictured SRM SYSTEM.It's not clear if (s)he replaced the crankset and made everything better, of if this is the crankset that was causing the problem and it has been replaced.

Yeah, that was my concern.
I'm looking at some Rotor3D+ cranks with SRM from a chap on Wattage, but his arms are 172.5, IF these cranks from German eBay seller are fine and dandy then great- I'll swap them over.
It'd be nice to know if they are borked and being sold as paperweights though.

How bad could these be for £36? Reduced from £65.

I'm building a "leave at work for those days I don't ride to work but I'm spending the next few days at my girlfriend's and would like a bike to get to and work from her's" beater. A distinct lack of chainsets up for sale atm, well cheap ones, so these and a UN55 for £50 seems reasonable and all nice and shiny new.

• #40747
Your only other real choice at that price range is that bloody Lasco from velosolo. The Pro Lite one will be at least a million times better by default.

Home NAS: WD Live book. Any good? Storing stuff centrally. Playing media off it.
etc and so on. -

It's not clear if (s)he replaced the crankset and made everything better, of if this is the crankset that was causing the problem and it has been replaced.
No, it is clear--it is the latter. She/he now has another crankset on the bike and is selling the defective one.

You must be capable of another kind of connection with films. :)
