Thanks James, I am a regular in Rebeccas Yoga Place class but they are stopping the monthly pass scheme and I try to go at least 3 times a week (obsessive personality). It was unsustainabley cheap at £35/month for unlimited lunchtime classes so I don't blame them for knocking it on the head but for a similar amount of yoga I'm now looking at £100+/month. The new Body Wise studio do some kind of pass but it's a bit confusing, I'll pop down there and ask in person as I haven't seen the new place yet.
Ta,

Not enough Camel Toe... i checked all eight pages

I started doing some leg stretches a few weeks ago after I noticed my form deteriorating on the final few reps of my barbell squats. I figured it was a lack of hamstring/ankle flexibility. Anyway I started stretching and i'm really enjoying it, stretching feels great! I was about 2 inches off touching my toes before, now I can almost palm the floor. I can just about get my head between my knees in a sitting down position too (not sure what it's called).
Form has improved, I can go lower on the squats, which is always better. Core strength still could do with improving.
I'm also trying to learn the splits (sideways ones) and for some extra motivation i've put up a £20 bet that says I can do it by January 10th with a girl I know. It's pretty painful so far ... I'm gonna lose da cash aren't I .. How long does it normally take to do? Male, 1m84, 78kg. Long legs.

Sounds good lpg.
It's unlikely that if you weren't a gymnastics boy or similar you'll do a full splits, the tendons won't have developed that way, but having said that my 45 yr old male teacher gets into them so not sure how you're made.
Keep going on downdog/updog vinyasas with plenty of dandasana/chaturanga dandasana and your core strength will solidify and transfer into all the standing balances and you won't regret the practice.

Ha.funny you mention it, really looking forward to trying that, have seen it heaps but never been in right place to try.new thread needed?

• #364
Aw shit really? There's a good chance they won't come? How sad :(
I was never into flexibility as a kid, I could barely touch my toes my whole life until recently. Do you mean something like this?
Yoga vinyasa jumping from Down Dog - YouTube
That is impressive as fuck. My core strength has improved a lot, squats, full cleans and olympic lifts in general are fantastic and work it like nothing else, but i'd love to improve flexibility would love to be able to do what that girl does. Ah well just gotta keep on truckin! I'll report back if I achieve my splits goal :)

"do you mean something like this" connected to the vid from a list of my sanskrit names shows you know a little more than most LPG :)
she does indeed do 2 sets of downdog/ jump to handstand/ jump back to chaturanga dandasana/ updog/ downdog
The first 2 kind of show off her upper body strength from loads of jumping practice and her extreme neck stretch is unneccesary, but its youtube so... then 3rd rep is into deep uttanasana/ flat back.
That movement where you lower weight down on balls of feet- dandasana
to just off the floor- chaturanga dandasana (keep your arms close to the body)
then roll weight over onto tops of feet for up- dog is totally strengthening and was what I meant above.
