Beautiful day for a ride - a fine lfgss/yacf collaboration. Many thanks to Ludd, Mike and whoever for leading us through to Cambridge. Really enjoyed the post pub stop lanes, my favourite kind of ride - not having a clue where you are, but confident that you are on track.

I need to stop reading this thread.
Norovirus can fuck off, after totally ruining what was set to be the perfect weekend.

In Jurek's absence (in Majorca, no less...) here is Peter's track of our route:
http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?lnk=http://peter.chesspod.com/routes/london-camb.gpx
and I agree, the mix of lfgss and yacf is a fine one. There's actually a fair amount of overlap, both in terms of culture/weltanschauung and in terms of actual personnel
We did that route yesterday but in reverse, Cambridge to Anstey and back via Barrington - with gears though. Much respect for anyone doing it on fixed.

Indeed a fine rolling ride on a glorious day. My thanks to those on point.
The Devonshire Arms was a great way to finish my oxbridge weekender.
Even saw one of the yacf blokes on my commute this morning whilst I was heading east along Narrow St. Not the wobbly bloke on the MTB though.

Great day out, thanks to all.
Nice to meet everyone (even Skully)

Aha, and it was for this that your new employers have kitted you out with an all-singing, all-dancing webophone! Have a good trip and don't show us the photos.

Nope, we went straight over. It's a bit of road also used on a TNRC favourite route from Roydon.
Have to say whoever went out with inadequate lights yesterday will surely be soon investing in exposure/hope/dynamo gear soon, funds allowing. I note HoKe and Gizmond have both offered here Hope Vision1s for pretty great prices lately, so get some ffing lights Alfie/gm/ladym!
Very, very embarrassing. I have some crap knoggy things, but it really is time to kit up for winter properly. Merino and crinkly jackets ahoy!
thanks for being such excellent company, by the way, hope to ride with you again soon. -

@greasemonkey
I'll take that as a compliment! I think ...Thanks for posting Peter's track of the route, Ludd. Not sure what to do with a gpx, mind. Maybe today's the day I work it out. More of an OS man.

I still use OS. So much information in such a handy little package. I love 'em. Things of beauty. I have two large boxes full, mostly Scotland and northern England. I guess it's also the route finding technique I grew up with, hill walking and climbing, as well as cycling, so it's what I'm used to. Looking at those lines on a Garmin, for me, is like trying to learn a foreign language.
However, I did manage to source enough money, through birthdays and Christmas, from family, to eventually purchase a Satmap. OS maps on a GPS.
Oh, and by the way, great ride yesterday. Totally in agreement with that. YACF and LFGSS sweeping through the Essex countryside as one. -

First and foremost, thanks to Ludd for organising. Your rims were class.
Great to get to chat to Grease Monkey + Lady M, Katy, Alfie, Skully, rob. and oaty.
Good to see cnkr again.
Glad to have met vunugu.Couple more, I'm not sure if they are on the forum:
Gent with the Caradice Zip Roll.
Tall bloke who cycled 30 miles home and was feeling my gold. Will make more of an effort to make beers one evening soon.

Ha!
Here's the email from him, he turned right following a father and his two kids...
Hey Benjamin,
I dont know what happened too. Basically I was following you, then I took a right with other cyclers with thinking that I am following you; but then I found out that they are different group of people, so I turned back but could not see you again. I checked some pubs in that street to see if you entered one of them. I could not find you. I then just toured around the city and returned with 18.51 train.

Guray!
What happened yesterday?! We were past the station, on our way to meet everyone, I speed up so I don't lose the guys in front, but I lose you! The pub was right on that road!
What happened?!

Gent with the Caradice Zip Roll...
That would be me, I think. Unless it's the other guy, in which case it's him and you aren't who I thought you were either... :)
As always, a pleasure riding with you all. I think that's the first forum ride I've done where we managed to set off with more riders than anticipated and successfully pick up injections of new blood at regular intervals throughout!

Unfortunate turn of phrase for a cycling forum :/

Oh well, my secret was always destined to be exposed eventually - following my misguided attempt at a Fishy Bikes x Armstrong Collab....
