I'm really tempted by this one but I'm scared you will be all super duper fast...
For perspective, I am definitely going, and you've definitely rode with me before and know what my usual speed is like.
To the rest of you, I hope you like going at 6mph :-)

Haha, this will be payback to middleofnowhere for dragging us across London at 50mph at 3am after the Bridges Ride.

Yes but that was fcking cool, and there was no bugger on the roads.
I'm not sure whether to roll this fixed or geared. My fixed whip isn't quite set up for long distance riding os some adjustments would definitely need to be made..... Whats the general consensus???
-
• #109
I want to do this fixed but my knee will not be up for it (damn congenital defect) so I will be going ss.
-
• #110
I'll be fixed, fo sho.
-
• #111
Fixed for me, too. Might feel a bit of pain but it's probably not going to kill me.

C'mon sweats you can do it fixed. The last 30 miles is totally flat and there aren't any real hills in North London.
Course you're Colnago does love the ol tarmac....

need new footwear and pedals for benotto... if i can find i'll come along.
-
• #116
I probably can do it fixed, but can i put up with the back ache for a week later from riding my first century (plus) on a HHSB set up that suits me fine for the street and shorter rides?? And can i be arsed to change it??
Maybe... Don't know... WIll work it out at some point! -

But, but... what's wrong with the deck shoes?

I've worn out, on average, a pair of those every 3 months for the last 18 months. I need a better solution.
-
• #120
incidentally what kind of cleated shoes does one need for egg beaters?
-
• #121
MTB shoes.

Am seriously considering this, though it will require a 60 mile ride to Clerkenwell Windmill (defunct) as trains where I am don't start early enough on a Sunday. Why did I ever leave London...
You could potentially meet us at Royston and join there? Would hope to be there about 1030 - 1100. You'd only miss the dull riding out of London parts.

blimey, only 1 week to go. am so lacking in miles put in. managed a hilly 30ish miles today and felt ok, so I'm assuming I'll be fine!
You could always do it in a mask...
