  • Best colour!! You know this is extremely close to the original Mercier pink colour? This is what I tried to achieve with Armortex too, and I had my bike just next to another Mercier with original paint work and it's almost spot-on!

    That looks sweet, more photos?

  • Skully lights come with a little V shaped rubber adapter for aero seat posts. I've got a few stashed away from when I had my BMC.

  • WTF is a rideguard?

    Google won't tell me.

  • But for bikes.

  • But for bikes.

    more along the lines

Thanks! Always a pleasure to show off!

It's still the same now, although I went for Nuknow's recommendation at the time and now have an old 3ttt saddle on it, which was a subtle but nice improvment (saddle on the pictures is a 90s specialized MTB one, that looked OK I thought as not too "fat")

I need to re-do the bar tape. I have white coton at home that I want to try, but would like to finish with shellac. Anybody knows where to find shellac? (I mean, old fashion way, easy, in a shop, in london, otherwise I'll UTFS...)

  • Both ^ the Mercian and Les's new coats are lovely.

Does make me kinda tempted to do a totally untasteful hot pink and lime green colour scheme on my On One now though... hmmm.

  • Shinkuu Kiss, whats the pink you've used called?

Looking at a lime green fizik arione cx kium saddle (yes I know its a shop test saddle) on ebay to go with my lime green grips and that pink would look sweet on the frame!

  • It was RAL 4010, which apparently is called TELEMAGENTA. Which is a fully radical name.

  • Just have to get that f*in fixed cup off and it should be rolling. Will never buy a frame with an old BB fitted again..

  • Liking it Shinkuu Kiss.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to do anything approaching lime green (yellow green's closest), which I'd like the decals done in.

Although I suppose if I wanted to, I could get the decals made as transfers in lime to be applied after.

  • I've just cut down a threaded 1" fork, and managed to miscalculate by about 2mm. Not owning a decent file, would it be easier to try and get hold of one and file it down, or just try and use a 5ml spacer or something (would need to source one)?

I have a variety of 1" spacers kicking around at home some silver some carbon, tell me exactly what you need and I can see if I have it

    Unscrewing the correct way?

  • ^ I had the same problem, went to my LBS, they used a vice to unscrew it..

You'll be fine I'm sure! If you havn't looked at it already, check this thread, some tips there might help...

    (Oh, and nice bike!!)

  • Unscrewing the correct way?

Yep. Tried wrench, vise and that Sheldon bolt & nut way. None worked. British bb so should unscrew clockwise.

Will give it one more shot then i'll take it to a welder to have a bar or something welded on.

    Mighty annoying.

  • Are you the new fucking Scoble? How many news threads do you need to post pics of your shit bikes in?

    Sheesh.

    Ha!
    Excellent.

  • Is everyone on this Forum 6' 6" tall?

Thanks! Always a pleasure to show off!

  • There are tools to do this, a bit better than the nut and bold method but using the same method. One of these with a hefty spanner (for leverage)
should do the trick. Welding may blister the paint.

  • changed the forks on my chinese machine. The head tube - fork junction isn't exactly pretty but hopefully it will stiffen up the front end. If not then I'll just put the original ones back on.

  • Those forks are well ugly on that frame. Straight blades would look better.

  • that bike looks like liquorice.

  • Those headtube's are inherently hard to make look nice with most forks I think.

there's not a straight tube on the bike, straight forks would look strange.
