[canofworms] Anyone playing an eight-string? I'm very much considering an Ibanez RG-2228... Any experience with them? [/canofworms]

How was last night Joe? Sorry i couldn't make this one. Am still stricken with the sickness. I miss this thread actually. You must buy the Gibson. It's beautiful. The power of Orville Compells you.
That's what you want to hear right?Being as i'm back for a moment, some nerdy points of order:
For no reason in particular, a goofy video of me playing the solo to "Can't Buy Me Love" in order to send to a mate who's learning it to play in my wedding band. Please forgive the schlubby wardrobe. ]A request for a bass player. I'm putting together a new band. Thinking just a little trio for my folky pop meanderings i've posted before ( www.soundcloud.com/allanjbegg ). Fancy getting out the tele and banjo a bit more and skiffling things up a bit for a few pub gigs. Have drums. Need a country-eqsue bass player who's happy to plod out root/fifths and sing the odd harmony. Anybody know of anybody?
Lastly, am after a p-bass for a mate. Has his heart set on a '51 re-issue but can probably talk him into any decent precision. Budget up to £700ish.
Thanks!

Alternative cheapo route might be a spunky little used white Gibson MM reissue for about £250, obtain a gnarly P90, throw it at Phillipe Dubreille for a quick routing job... this kinda thing ( [ame="http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=500023"]Gibson Melody Makers - The Gear Page[/ame] )... just a thought...

59 , melody maker. All original except I had the pick up re wound by bareknuckle.
Great guitar but I don't need it anymore. -

Never liked those early Melody Makers, much prefer the 60s SG-ish shape ones that Eric Carmen and Joan Jett played...
Looks like I'm getting a stock white LP Jr, £549... Unless I get a new polo frame and a 26" wheelset with the money... ;]

I'm a fan of double cut juniors and specials too. Lack the budget so picked this up last year brand new for £180. Got some GFS 'vintage wound' p90's for £25 off a forum, and likewise, an unused Gibson SG 50's wiring harness (which needed a bit of modding to fit) for another £25.
I've had the pickups in there for the last 6 months or so and they were an improvement over the originals, but the new wiring has been a revalation. Decent pots and caps have transformed this thing from a decent guitar for the money into a proper rock beast. It's a keeper. I'll pick up some Lollars or Bareknuckles for it as funds allow and it will be re-finished in Pelham Blue in the near future, maybe with a slight headstock reshaping.

Morning fuckos. Anyone flogging a Loopstation? Pref RC20xl but open to suggestions. Sicky sick.

Effortless.
I was thinking of getting an overdrive pedal, at the moment it's a toss up between an Fulltone OCD and a ibanez tube screamer TS9. opinions?

quick question, if an amp head has been connected to the mains during a power surge (and is no longer working properly), is the cab likely to be damaged as well?
unfortunately i don't have access to another head to test the cab; the amp is turning on and briefly producing sound but nothing is coming through the headphones/cab after that. it's a marshall valvestate as well so i can't go poking around it with the hope of fixing it because it's all on pcb.. plus there are a load of caps in there which could probably still manage to kill me..
thanks!

Check out the Biyang Mad Driver, much cheapness, usually eBay - I have one its great - I think it uses the same chip that the 70's Ibanez TS used.

I've just picked up my guitar for the first time in ages (well, I restrung it for the first time since buying it last week, but then didn't play it again). After a while I remembered that the last thing I'd been playing on it before I broke a string was If Only by QOTSA, which I'd just figured out completely for standard tuning. Those solos are amazing.
Also I've just realised I don't have a picture of my guitar, which is a shame, as obviously it's the most beautiful guitar in existence.
Basically it's this:
Early 80s Tokai Breezysound, basically a high-quality Tele copy, chose to get a second-hand one of those rather than a new lower-end Tele.

Ooh that's a lovely one, is the bridge a Fender with replacement brass saddles? Hard to find a Tokai with a proper ashtray like that... most were six-saddle.

Personally, I like TS9s.
Anyone got a dirty distortion or fuzz for sale?
Stereo or nothing I'm afraid. (I have way too many amps not to have fun with stereo)
Thanks for the offer though.
