Seals have improved. So there's no need for anything to keep the water away.
Also those rubber sleeves tend to hold in water causing seals and stanchions to degrade. I've pumped water out of some RST's I had after the sleeve had split.

Would it be alright to cut them off then?
I've got some manitou magnum r forks
Its purely for aesthetics

How come old suspension forks have the ribbed rubber things, and the newer ones don't?
Because fork manufacturers are no longer interested in her pleasure

They're old forks though? So you'd be better off keeping them unless you're a fair weather mtb'er. they're also handy if you're riding in abrasive soil.

I just tried v3 skin, its like something from the anti-porn thread.
Damn right. It's totally f*&ked. This may explain why I'm so confused by this 'giving rep' malarky though.
-
• #17164
Fuck the rep thing, that's for middle class cunts who have a relentless enthusiasm for rimming their chums in public.
Black text on white background. No need to fuck with that.
Yes bring on the racist taunts......................

Yes it can. Obviously ten hours too late but I'd advise not drinking it.

No, as a general rule remakes and reworkings are shite until proven otherwise. Ifthe reports are that it is so epic it must be seen in the cinema again then you have to go but I can't see that happening.

The new poa's is good. I would say its not AMAZING but worth a watch. I saw it a few weeks ago and its not quite like the other poa's its more how it got to be poa's really.

How much to post a bike to Germany? Post office website won't play ball nor will parcelforce site (both keep throwing up 'no results' once details entered) found another international delivery service and they're quoting over £100?! This can't be right?
Once it's packaged up in a cardboard bike box we're talking 10kg and a box just over 1m high and the same long and about 50cm wide.

Tried http://www.interparcel.com/ ?

You might be talking 10kg, but international shipping deals in a weird non-physics unit called Volumetric Weight. It makes a kind of sense that it's cheaper to ship a 16" cube of Tungsten rather than 650 cubic yards of Silica Aerogel, even though each weighs 1 ton. In the case of a boxed up bicycle, the Volumetric Weight comes in at about 60-100kg depending on how much you dismantle it to get it in the box.

Most odd. Thanks for the tips guys but both sites interparcel/parcelsplease are doing the same thing and telling me nothing they can do. Surely in the history of mankind a bicycle has been posted from the UK to Germany before???
I didn't realise I was quite so 'out there'...

anyone recommend some short cantilever blocks (with posts) ?
need to replace front Mafac blocks but £28 for a set seems a little pricey... retro Campag blocks which also fit are £23. anything wider than about 45mm bangs into the fork. -

Since when has Matt Bellamy been an obnoxious cunt?
How come old suspension forks have the ribbed rubber things, and the newer ones don't?
Is it a modern fashion?
