  • Buy some magic scales- they tell you body fat percentage and so forth.

  • Folds in belly=too fat.

  • er actually, I cant rep you at all. Your "hermit-like" profile won't allow my bountiful reward

  • [Science]

Sit topless and press pencils into the folds in you belly.
    Stand up slowly.
If they dont all fall out, go for a run you fat cnut.

Pencils followed by remotes, mobile phones.. small pets...

I was trying to find the BMI of a pork scratching (bored and it's a great thing to know when having a pint) when i stumbled upon an army forum, the TA have a BMI restriction now.. I wouldn't get in, neither would a pork scratching.

but as one user so clearly put it, "bolloxs to BMI, it doesn't take into account the size of your cock"... so how was it these wars drag on for so long again...

  • Folds in belly=too fat.

what about back? i have seen that, whilst standing!

  • My body fat% is about 30% = Obese
    My Bmi = 30.1 also = Obese

    I think I am obese

  • 1.5 x bodyweight squats and 2 x bodyweight deadlifts are my current targets.

I'm glad I'm a heavyweight and don't have to worry about that cutting weight malarkey.

Make sure you technique is perfect with these. Not only will this protect your back, but I found that correct form has enabled me to lift a lot more weight. Currently im nearly at 3 x bodyweight (Deadlift) and 2(and a bit) x bodyweight (squat).

  • angry badger? hungry stoat... Maybe even a sturdy goat

I knew a bloke who always used to use the turn of phrase "fucks like an angry badger".

BMI states 'overweight' getting close to obese. But I dont really have much fat other than the usual middle age love handles, and I need them.

Ha! Yeah, better keep those handles for lovin

  • I was just under 85kg this time last year, been working the guns innit.

There is not a great deal more fat to lose.

But... guns is heavier than guts.

  • I've lost more gut than gun gained, but I have almost exhausted my supply of gut, so may start gaining weight soon.

  • You were a bit like a giraffe that ate a porpoise

  • Make sure you technique is perfect with these. Not only will this protect your back, but I found that correct form has enabled me to lift a lot more weight. Currently im nearly at 3 x bodyweight (Deadlift) and 2(and a bit) x bodyweight (squat).

    Nice work!

I am quite tall so am very protective of my back (one of the reasons I am doing strength training in the first place) which also makes me paranoid about my form. I recently reset my dead lift from about 1.25 x bodyweight to half that because my technique was getting shaky.

  • You were a bit like a giraffe that ate a porpoise

I know- how stupid I looked, I was right to hate myself when I looked in the mirror.

  • we made dulce de leche milkshake last night, it was NOM.

  • A day of obsessive calorie counting has now explained why I'm not losing any weight despite burning thousands of calories while exercising.

Apparently, a tub of dulce de leche ice cream is over 1,000 calories.

    Who would have thunk it.

Try eating someone elses- apparently calories don't count if you do this

  • Feck! Just weighed myself and have hit 20 stone, that's 127kgs in new money:

  • right, four weeks until i get married.

weighed myself last night at 89kg (i'm 6ft)- this is not good.

what's a realistic weight to aim for in the four weeks?

My plan so far is to cut down on processed sugars, cut the booze as much as possible and try to get out on a decent longish ride at least once a week (alongside 2 gym sessions a week - rowing machine)

Also, thinking of doing a food diary, any advice on a nice, simple web-based thing?

  • When I'm not being a fatty bombatty I use MyFitnessPal too. has a decent db of uk foods on there.

  • Good way to loose weight and look good in a short space of time:

When you wake up in the morning, don't eat anything. Drink some water then go for a ride - 20 to 30 mins max, nothing too strenuous, you need to sweat a bit.

Straight after you finish with the cardio, eat! Something with protein in it - Protein shake or eggs, maybe some meat and some carbs. Starchy carbs (rice, potatos, pasta) and processed sugars are your enemies for the next 4 weeks.

Lift heavy weights - this will limit muscle loss. Check out stronglifts.com for a good beginners routine which will preserve muscle while you are busy not eating anything.

No carbs after 8pm - none at all. If you feel hungry and want something sweet then go for a jog. Then reward yourself with chewing gum.

  • The norovirus doing the rounds at the moment would get you to 52 kg in 28 days.

    Definitely not recommended.

  • I find that generally when your hungry just do some exercise and that will work. Just do the usual don't eat sugary sweets or drinks eat smaller portions.

As for losing weight very quickly all them protein diets work wonders but after the inital weight loss it'll be hard to keep it up.

  • Living on fruit at the moment, after an ex colleague told me about how he used to have a month long detox only drinking fresh orange juice every now and then.

  • Also, thinking of doing a food diary, any advice on a nice, simple web-based thing?

    this is pretty good
