I popped into the Vodafone shop.
In short Vodafone have been nothing but one dissapointment after another, if I could cancel my contract I would do so
Oh god, at the risk of flogging a dead horse they suck so much. They stole £460 from my account, and then took 4 months to pay me back, with weekly calls to CS, from my local store manager. And still they just kept BSing
Useless fact: I had my wifi and gps off on friday and the phone lasted me about 13-15hours. (It was almost dead when I charged it that night)
Rooted? Custom Rom?

I know FA about phones and didn't want to get the tWATPhone so I went for an HTC Desire.
Are they any good? -

Yes.

Cool Thanks. Bit late now if they aren't I suppose. The only downside I have heard is short battery life. Is this a problem?
-
• #2931
Yes, it's a good phone.
It has a good function for cycling called "my tracks", which records your route, together with data such as elevation, speed, etc., via GPS.
http://mytracks.appspot.com/re battery life - the good thing about android devices (compared to apple) is that you can buy spare batterys for about £25. On my nexus 1 (the model before the desire), I get pretty good battery life. "my tracks" works fine for a 5 hour ride on one charge.

Sorry for delayed reply.
I would say given how new it is a repair is not acceptable.
In English, the Sale of Goods Act (1979) states that if a consumer chooses to request a repair or replacement, then for the first six months after purchase it will be for the retailer to prove the goods did conform to contract (i.e. were not inherently faulty).
If they are not disputing that there is a fault (which they aren't, as they have offered to repair it) you are within your rights to insist on a replacement.
After six months a repair would be entirely reasonable, but you've had it for two months.
Print this off and show them the relevant line (near the bottom).
If they still refuse to offer a replacement, ask them why they believe they are above the law and inform them you will be seeking legal advice to make them perform on the contract, ask to speak to the manager etc.
Just checked and my first bill was in July.

If they don't pay up sharpish, make a claim through the small claims court. Do it online, and I will guarantee you that they pay within 24 hours

i have never understood why google maps doesnt cache the maps that you have already downloaded... it should defo save the last 2 weeks worth or something..
It does on Symbian (not to the level that nokia/ovi maps does) but they seem to not bother on Android for some reason... maybe because it's supposed to be more cloudy?

http://www.quidco.com/play-com/?ac
Oh, and if you use Quidco and use my referral link you'll get £1.25 extra. I'll get £1.25 too and will donate £1 to the forum when (if) Quidco pay me. PM me if that sounds like a good deal.

I am going to collect mine in 10 mins. I have never had a decent phone before. I am so excited.
No doubt I will have broken/lost in within a month. No insurance so its kind of odds-on -

Have fun!
I remember when I got my Magic [still feels stupid to say!] from Vodafone, and turning it on, and the huge red loading screen blew me away.
Being used to tiny old phones, that is still my most resounding memory of the phone! -
