Yep, mine got updated too. Haven't noticed any difference though...
Got updated to Froyo at the weekend (desire on 02) - main things are HD video recording, full(ish) flash capability, wifi hotspot as far as I know...
Took their sweet time about it though.

Having the internet, properly all the time:

Sorry for delayed reply.
I would say given how new it is a repair is not acceptable.
In English, the Sale of Goods Act (1979) states that if a consumer chooses to request a repair or replacement, then for the first six months after purchase it will be for the retailer to prove the goods did conform to contract (i.e. were not inherently faulty).
If they are not disputing that there is a fault (which they aren't, as they have offered to repair it) you are within your rights to insist on a replacement.
After six months a repair would be entirely reasonable, but you've had it for two months.
Print this off and show them the relevant line (near the bottom).
If they still refuse to offer a replacement, ask them why they believe they are above the law and inform them you will be seeking legal advice to make them perform on the contract, ask to speak to the manager etc.
I just got a lot of "I'm sorry sir but we are only allowed to ask you to send your handset in", my requests to speak to anyone senior were denied, then they hung up on me.
I was extremely polite throughout I might add- not so much as a hint of a raised voice, so hanging up on me (might have been a network issue- hah!) pissed me right off.
I'd dearly love to be rid of Vodafone- is there any way I could parlay this into dissolving the contract?
I'd happily buy my own handset and go to a pay monthly SIM.

man I never realised it had Kindle on it. Just downloaded some classic fiction for free.
It even has a little plugin to monitor my work network and data centre :) -

Froyo here too :)

I downloaded Lord of The Rings....the full trilogy. There, I've said it. ;)

^ teehee, awww.
Okay, so I brought Swiftkey after using the beta version. But now it wont show up as default, even after setting it in locale. Wtf?
Fixed it. Am using handcent, so after I'd installed the paid swiftkey, I thought it automatically replaced the beta which I deleted soon after, but it didn't. So I had to hold down to the message box and change input method.

Even now, after using it daily for well over six months, about once a week I get a "wow" feeling from it ... Damn, I love it.
Hopefully I will get that feeling tomorrow at 6:30 AM [not dodgy!]
Context: My mum used to play BBC radio 4 every morning when I was younger, and i've gotten used to waking up to it, but I've struggled to find:
A) a decent way of playing radio on Android
B) a decent alarmWell I've just found an app, TuneIn Radio, which not only plays loads of UK radio stations, but also has a built in alarm function where you can start any station playing at any time you want! And it looks nice as a bonus. Well pleased :)
And another cool app:
Instant Heart Rate
It uses your phones camera to measure changes in skin colour due to blood oxidation levels (your pulse) and gives you a hear rate reading. Not sure how useful it would be after 20 minutes of HITT exercise, but pretty cool none the less! -

Go into the shop, ask to speak to a manager, refuse to leave until a manager appears.
Explain to manager it is your legal right, if they say no or it's not, ask them to write that down, and sign it.
Failing that write to head office, send recorded delivery. Tell them you reserve the right to take legal action (you could do this through the small claims court online).
Legally speaking you could argue that Vodafone have failed to perform on the contract you have entered into, so there is no obligation on you to do so either. However, might not work and a high risk strategy.

Again, consumer rights, no? Handset not fit for purpose. Return for refund (they probably have a get out clause in the contract so you can't do this though.. cunts).
Unlocked, SIM-free is the only way to fly.

Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Samsung Galaxy S in the UK gets delayed till mid October -

Android now tied with Apple, for people's interest, but growing much faster than any other OS.

^Hippy is always right.
Now have Froyo on O2 and it's bad ass. Battery life improvement is dramatic IMO.

Could I suggest that Voda's actions in respect of the sale of goods act puts them in breach of contract?
Or is that a stupid question?

I love my milestone but I am annoyed as hell that I am not getting 2.2 on it for a while. MOre annoyed that I will probably never get anything past that.
Am I annoyed enough that I drop the best part of £400 on a desire HD? Not yet, but in another 6 months, probably.

I'd hate to try to wake up and it not be able to find a stream. Like the idea overall.
Instant Heart Rate is mental as it does seem to be pretty accurate. No idea what I'd use it for, but cool.

Like anything, use it for sex.
Hang on, hang on, hang on.....I just realised that I could have posted that comment in the Marmite thread. ;)

TuneIn Radio
Menu > Settings > Enable alarm
But you have to set it up first by opening a station, and at the bottom of the page there is an option for set alarm

If you're able to test you HR by holding your finger on a phone you've not tried hard enough.
@mikec - yep, my milestone is the best gadget I have ever owned, and I've had quite a few. Even now, after using it daily for well over six months, about once a week I get a "wow" feeling from it. I also regularly feel that I am missing out on it being able to do so much more, if I only knew how.
Does anyone else ever get the "wow, this is like living in the future" feeling? I do, from stuff like:
Having the internet, properly all the time.
Having spotify premium mobile.
Watching TV on tvcatchup.com
Streetview and maps in general.
3D games and console emulators.
Email, facebook, twitter, blogs, IM, SMS, phonecalls - so many communication possibilities, in this tiny device.
Kindle reader.
Damn, I love it.
