  • Thanks for a great day and I great ride, Emily and I had a fantastic time - it was ace meeting everyone. Looking forward to meeting you all again and maybe actually speaking to some more of you. Deffo up for another summertime ride. See y'all on the streets :)

  • Was sorry to miss you ladies. I did a marathon ride in the morning and it didn't get to Jubilee Gardens until about 10.20am. I overestimated how far you had gone and overshot to Battersea Park (didn't have a route sheet on me; fail). Somehow missed seeing you all entering the park. Got cold and damp (a second time), gave up and went home.

Will be much more organised next time and look forward to a summer ride...

  • First ride out w/ LFGSS. Scherrit said it was a very friendly bunch - but wow! Such a nice friendly welcome - everyone Many thanks to the kind marshals who risked life & limb (or at least being hooted at) to keep us all safe. It was a great route - but bum & 'other parts' a little the worse for wear. Serve me right for not getting out on my bike more!!

For anyone who is lurking here & is worried about coming along to an event (eg; I haven't got a fixed wheel bike, I'm a bit shy, I don't know anyone) - my advice is to come. I can honestly say I have never met such a friendly non-cliquey group. Plus, if we all chip in for some clipless pedals for Jenne - the entertainment will be priceless . . .

  • Aaaaaaaaah yet another cool day out riding! Nice to meet all you lovely ladies....Yay!
Some of us were saying maybe there should be a ladieees drinks once a month....or something? You know...to talk about cooking, cleaning and knitting.

    Fran

  • thanks heaps for a wicked day ladies. had an absolutely awesome time and was great to meet you all. Cant wait to do more rides. will def be hitting up south beers soon with the other aussie wedding crasher.
loved the random comment from some dude in fulham as we rode past...
"must be some sort of lesbian protest"

  • I was also chatting with a few of the ladies about maybe a Ladies Brighton run, for those who want something a little longer, faster.
I'd personally wouldn't do it fixed so it will have to wait until i have my surly crosscheck built (a month tops) but I really want to get some miles in before Dunwich this year.

I'm thinking an ok pace, but nothing to strenuous to be honest - it's all about the ride, not how quick I'm going to get there for me. Maybe a pub stop halfway (or maybe not) Then chips and beer on the beach. Those wanting to ride home can, the rest of us can get the train back.

If there is enough interest I'll start another thread .

Ladies Brighton Ride (Date TBA but prob in June)

  • She was certainly in Bar Italia with us at the end of the marathon ride

Yeah, she was in our little group and piss wet through as we got caught in the heavy rain. I did find out her name but completely forgot it after inhaling several pints.

Bloody well done for making the double!

Aiiiiiight. Helena's her name....not too sure she's on the forum but you'll find her at east beers....

After watching that slo-mo fall I'll definitely put in for the pedals. Read about these so often on another forum, seeing it for real made my afternoon (once I realised she wasn't hurt).

Would be glad to join another ride if gears are allowed as yesterday's was the furthest I've ridden since getting on a bike 18 months ago. Got home, had dinner and crashed on the sofa so I really need to do some more long distance rides :).

    Once again, thanks ladies!!

Ladies Brighton run, for those who want something a little longer, faster.

Yes to gals drinks and/or south drinks, which I've thought about going along too but have so far always chickened out of. And very definite yes to Brighton visit - also geared. Too many bumps..

  • Come to Souths! A lot of us girls there, plus it's the most friendliest drinks!
    Plus, 2-4-1 burgers!
Speaking of which I'm off for my burger now!

  • Yesterday was so awesome! I love riding bikes with the boys but it's extra-special awesome to ride just with the chicks. Keep remembering that fall, how I was so smug after landing that skid stop only to lose it completely! Too funny. I def want to try clipless again, though.

Ooooh, Clefty, I really want to do the Brighton ride but have to get my bike back from NYC! Unless someone has a 52cm geared bike they want to lend me for the ride. goes off to check "nyc to London?" thread

Ladies, I second that monthly ladies drinks emotion, let's make it happen! Maybe rotating so we all see different areas and no one feels like they always have to ride too far to get there.

  • monthly ladies drinks?
    new phrase

  • Definitely up for a jaunt to Brighton but I'm a bit worried I won't be able to keep up.. how fast is an ok pace?!

I wanted to do the bhf london to brighton but missed the sign up deadline sadly.

  • went passed you earlier charlotte, at the west ealing lights

  • Come to Souths! A lot of us girls there, plus it's the most friendliest drinks!

Up to eyeballs with work/childcare Monday night double whammy. In GREAT mood...
    Grrr.

Will be there next week though.

( ps - What's the burger etiquette? Is it bad form to have 2-4-1 all to oneself??!)

  • Can I be so bold as to suggest that the first "Ladies Drinks" be at Look Ma No Hands? I was there tonight, the place is pretty cool, we talked about the possibility of a women's mechanics class too.. the basics or more if people were interested.

  • I'd be down with that, this is the new bicycle cafe in Old Street yes?
@Charlotte - when I say OK pace, I'm pretty damn slow - and don't want anyone dropped - so it won't be superfast. (I walked up half of Turners and most of Ditchling)
Last time I did Brighton was on the (frankly horrific) official one and it took me 5 hours (fixed) (which averages out at 10mph) - but that was with 30,000 other people - and at times it was very slow i.e. walking pace.
I reckon we could easily do it in less than that.

@Jenny, if you manage the double you're the epitome of HTFU! But you may get the meat sweats.

  • monthly ladies drinks?
    new phrase

How many beers is it worth to keep all this gallivanting safe from your missus, stud? ;)

  • @ Jacqui. Interested in both. Dates?

  • Would be up for drinks, or ride to brighton (* though if its a week either side of glastonbury I can't do it, and maybe a few others too?
maybe possibly amalgamate the cycle to brighton with a possible camp thing like they did last month? though that may involve cycling back...we could always 'just' catch the train back? Anyway, whatever happens would like to come.
