@flowmont - I have had a look on there a few times and have been interested, I'm just a bit too busy as a finals student at the moment, unfortuantely, and may not be in Oxford for much longer than June. Plus I wouldn't want to ruin what will hopefully be my lovely new wheels!
May have a go on one of the other courses after my exams though!

So nobody been to Cycle Zone?

    Hey Guys,

New to the Oxford forum here. I was just wondering - I'm planning to get some wheels built for my first fixed build but thought I'd see if you have any recommendations? I was thinking of using Bike Zone for convenience but have mixed feelings about them sometimes. Any advice?

    Hey,

Just spotted a nice looking Schwinn Madison outside The Engineer on Gloucester Ave in Camden/Primrose Hill - would like to know what the handle bars and brake levers were, if the owner was watching me check it over!

Wow, you really wouldn't trust anyone else with it? I'm not sure I would have the funds to do that. In fact, I know I wouldn't :(

Moog: Huh, boyfriend used to live very close by there. Might see what the LBS suggest, but could well be interested. Where on Webber St is it, if I were going to go?

    Hey Guys,

Have just been woking my way through the thread, thinking I should introduce myself, then noticed I already had! My bad, I haven't been back here for a while.

Just to follow up, my quest for tiny frame is (sort of over). Managed to buy a lovely Jack Taylor frame on here a few days ago. A wonderful 18inch frame! Only problem is, it has a crack in the seat tube. An unanticipated crack, I may add (another issue). Here's a pic:

I don't *really *know what to do about it. I've taken it to my LBS and the guy there has offered to have a good look at it and see whether it would be possible to drill a hole just beneath the crack to stop it going any further. What do you guys think of this as a solution? My other options are having something brazed on over it, to brace it, or even a completely new seat tube, which seems a little extravagant (too much £sss!)

    Any opinions welcome! :)

K, was perhaps a bit vague there, as I've had a few messages about this (thanks for these though!!)
I realise it's the gear ratio, and not the size of the individual chain ring, which makes it difficult/easy. Was really wondering, mainly, whether peeps thought a large chain wheel would look dumb on such a tiny bike and, as an aside, what a 'normal' ratio is for a mainly-flat ride (have looked on other threads but not fully concluded the answer myself)

Argh! Interested in the CAMPAGNOLO RECORD CHAINSET (39T) for first free wheel commuter but just NO IDEA whether that would be too small. I've looked at gear ratio threads but am non the wiser - I just dunno what to start with. My frame is tiny (18 inches), I'm tiny (5ft 2), do you think this would mean a smaller chainring would be more suited?! Any clues welcome!
