  • so disappointed that we missed it! we were on our way, and just about to cross over blackfriars when rachael took a tumble and landed on her head. happened right in front of a police car who was stationed there to moderate the roads for the marathon, so they quickly called for an ambulance and we went to the hospital :(

i'm happy to report that everything checked out okay, and rachael is fine now, if a bit sore. it's such a shame because she had come up from brighton specifically to do the ride. have heard rumours about a potential summer ride, so we're looking forward to that.

hope everyone had a good time!

(the policeman had even heard about the ride because as someone either canadian or american had stopped and asked him whether the bridge was closed because she was on her way south to join a ladies bike ride!)

So glad all is ok with you two and yes there will definitely be a summer ride. That policeman was talking about Jacqui!

  • where are the pictures?

  • Wow what a great day! Felt like no-one was going to turn up as I was riding to Jubilee Gardens in the pissing rain - but was pleasantly surprised to see so many ladies HTFU'ing, and then it stopped raining..and then the sun came out!
    Highlights for me:
Hearing wolf whistles as I cycled round Jubilee gardens looking for people, turning round and seeing a load of you waiting.
Jenny and Oscar - the coolest little man on the ride and that tandem is amazing!
Ice cream in the rain in Battersea park
    The Sun!
Jayloo's epic clipless fail - I'm still laughing.

Oh and it wouldn't be a forum ride without a crash, this time it was Diapo hitting my rear wheel then hitting the tarmac rather hard on the way back South - Both Lady and Bike are fine, the bloody knee was a great match for the red bike. Hope you're patched up ok.

Thank you all so much for making the effort in the crappy weather, you all totally rule!

    Will sort out pics shortly.

  • to all the girls that didn't/couldn't/wouldn't go.........you're all a bunch of pussies :)

fair play to Jenny j that looked so easy for you.

  • There's a man in that picture? That's too difficult for me now, it'd be like trying to spot Wally.

you ladies look great, and i'm glad the sun came out for you all. can't wait for the summer ride. this is the second 50 fixed women ride i've added my name to, and have failed to attend. third time's a charm!

  • Lovely day, thanks clefty.
hot coffee when soggy, riding through blossom and lots of beers make for a great ride.
Nice to meet more of you, and cheers to Emma for riding with me back to hackney.
Hope to see you all soon x

  • Aw, this looked aces – would've joined. Sorry to miss it: a) day at work, b) + marathon ride, c) I did initially hear it as '50(miles) Fixed (only)' (both beyond me), but have been corrected. Next time! Will look out for it.

  • Grey Hoodie at the front, from the pics looks like she did this and the marathon ride. Respect.

  • Turns out Mrs Digger is water-soluble...
She wants it to be known she is not wimping out due to mild precipitation but her ankle hurts.

missed kate on the ride today, hope to see you both soon.

  • pleased to hear rachael is ok :)
    lovely to meet you all.

  • well done you lot especially the two of you that did the double. a mini grand slam of epic proportions. what were you two on?

  • That was a lovely ride, excellent work Clefty and marshalls. I don't think I'd ridden any of the route before apart from right at the very end and very nice it was too. Especially Brompton Cemetary. And you can't see me in the picture at all! Brilliant.

Cheers to Alex and Jacqui for the ride home, it's possible I'd still be circling Hyde Park Corner without you.

  • Grey Hoodie at the front, from the pics looks like she did this and the marathon ride. Respect.
