  • this may have already been posted but there's a ride tomorrow night to protest against the israeli violence

    http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/01/417420.html

and there's also a march saturday afternoon from 12.30pm meeting at hyde park going to the israeli embassy

  • Fucking terrible shit, all of it.

    :(

  • I'm keen to know what Zionists think of these recent developments? Are they openly happy or using the same lines that Israel PR are?

  • Israel seem to be holding on to first place in the 'fucking cunts' race at the minute.

257 children burnt, crushed, dismembered, beheaded and otherwise having their lives ended by Israel's heroic warriors.

    Fucking evil cunts.

  • hey teew what state of the USA was offered to the israelis you schmuck

I'm still trying to find out. It's one of those "facts" you're told by a generally trustworthy source. I'm chasing it up, promise!

  • settlements up until 2006

  • Good graphics SMB, looks like one way traffic.

'The Economist' calls it on settlement building

think I might take a mosey down to the demo tomorrow

I might join you, as much as I think Hamas are a repellant medieval horror show, Israel have managed to unite the most disparate views against their recent contempt for humanity.

Absolutely disgusting work from the Israelis.

I agree with your linked article (from the economist) when they say:

"If rejection of the other side’s national claims is one of the things that make this conflict so hard to end, the other is religion."

To be honest it is silly that this even needs to be stated, anyone who takes even the most cursory interest could have told us that without religion's influence we might have closed this wound decades ago.

Thanks for the link Will. As ever, essential reading from the great Mr Pilger.

  • Israel have managed to hit a brand new low. If using remote drones to kill boys playing football and shooting eight year old girls with Apache gunships where abhorrent enough, they decided to go one step further by herding over 100 people into a so called safe house and then shelling it.

I'm well aware that there is a lot of emotional and political concern over likening Israel to the Nazis, but I'm pretty certain that this constitutes a line being crossed.

  • @Platini (and everyone else) Znet is a great site; you can become a 'sustainer' for a couple of quid a month, help them keep going. Pilger, Chomsky and lots of others have pages there.

The two best events to look at for that likening would be Deir Yassin - the systematic destruction of everything and anything in the town in order to scare out the palestinians (it worked) - which was a tactic the Nazi's used in exactly the same way.
Other one was that the Zionists never really disliked the Nazis, Hitler and and the Zionists talked about the possibilities of leaving germany and taking Israel with Germany's support.

BLIMEY my girlfriend is on the telly...;)

  • hey teew did the zionists have to wear the star of david armpatches whilst talking to hitler and did he give them a guided tour of auschwitz afterwards

    Done.

    Evidence please.

  • I suppose nobody's heard of Pallywood?

  • sorry, but fuck that video.

  • I suppose nobody's heard of Pallywood?

That's fanastic. A film about media spin on events that itself is subject to high degrees of spin. I realise that there is a possibility that Palestinians may be involved in staging events for the camera, but that film lacks any realistic subjectivity or credibility. The second victim of the war, as ever, is the truth.

Don't be sorry, it's a frightening sack of shit.

  • Apparently all the rich fuckers in Kensington are getting upset at all the protests disrupting their lives. Poor bastards

Probably no-one will ever really know the truth but this case illustrates the power of the TV image irrespective of whether it is 'true' or not

Probably no-one will ever really know the truth but this case illustrates the power of the TV image irrespective of whether it is 'true' or not

What it illustrates is that if, somehow, the causes of death of one Palestinian child can be disputed then this is taken as further evidence that it is a conflict between equals with deaths on both sides and spin on both sides. The weight and time given to these 'controversies' are obscene when placed against the reality of the slaughter of children by the Israeli military in the last weeks, months and years.

  • Well actually yes there is death on both sides and yes there is spin on both sides and any 'truth' is very much distorted by ones own perception and prejudice. The reality is that what you are witnessing in Gaza is tiny to what Israel is fully capable of. If you want a comparison try Falluja. A military force attempting to dislodge insurgents ensconced within a civilian population - most of the city destroyed with over 6000 civilians dead. Yes it is awful what is happening in Gaza but don't you think that Hamas is at least as culpable as Israel? What justification can there be for then launching rockets into Israel ? was not the outcome of Hama's action utterly predictable?
