Building on the anti-semitic theme, I read this on the Guardian website earlier today.

The number and frequency of rocket attacks from Gaza escalated over the past few weeks culminating in a week long onslaught just prior to the Israeli action.
the ceasefire recently ended.
If Israel are going to launch an offensive like this and get carté blanch from the US then they would need to do it before the current administration leaves.
That has given me an idea for a plan . . . . .

You make it sound like I knew what I was talking about !! :) But that little sequence was pretty obvious to pretty much anyone who gave it a few minutes thought.
Interesting to see what happens when Hama's ceasefire runs out (it's demands will, of course, not be met).

of course. Israel's offensive was as much aimed at Obama as it was at Hamas:
"you play ball with us, new boy, or you will see what we're capable of". If Obama doesn't copitulate, he'll get the blame for any further deaths by israel's PR machine.

Also | don't understand why people say "Idon't know much about this" as if that were inexplicable. I don't know much about the history of Sweden because I've never read any books about the history of Sweden.
It's not necessarily that it is inexplicable, but that there seems to be a baffling amount of information on the subject. I had a tenuous grasp on the issues at hand until i read this thread. Now I'm like, holy shit!
My only statistics class basically made me skeptical about what anyone says, wondering what their source was and who funds the source.
