I would say that the one thing to bear in mind is that they're animals and therefore don't necessarily need special furniture or beds. Chances are the bits you spend the most on and are the most excited for them to use, they'll sniff once and never touch it again.
If you can arrange for them to have a quiet, surrounded safe spot like under a bed in the spare room or something, they will like that initially as somewhere to go and feel safe. -

We've got two cats and have bought about 5 beds, they've never used any of them. Even when they're allowed on sofas and beds, I'll catch one sleeping on my backpack on the floor or something else equally as stupid

This. Mine have various beds they avoid. They much prefer a pile of fresh clean washing to sit on.

We're currently down to 1 elderly cat (from a peak of 4). The wife is a vet and they were all brought home/rescued from when she was newly qualified and still enthused.
Yeah, we've never had any special car furniture or beds.
We use the World's best stuff also. It's great, but sodding expensive and seems to have gone up 25% in the last couple of months, bought a 12kg bag last week and it was £45!

make a happy cat home?
Transmit love by thinking loving thoughts. They can read your mind. Gaze adoringly while rubbing the tummy or whatever. Say lots of baby talk to them at the same time. Lots of affection builds trust. Find out what makes the cat give you the slow blink and keep doing it. Blinking slowly at you means they appreciate what you're doing.

We have one tower by the window which both of ours love. The other will sit on a free armchair or sofa and not seem too stressed about it. Old shoelaces are their favourite toys. One likes the vertical scratching post, the other likes a horizontal one.

And definitely buy a laser pen. Cats dig lasers

Pretty sure they cause anxiety in cats as they can’t actually catch them.
You need to make sure they have a ‘prey’ at the end of any play session with lasers.
I know with Hendricks, when we’ve used them in the past, he would stalk the house for an hour afterwards, bleating because he couldn’t find it.

Ah we always make sure they can see the red dot climb the wall to the ceiling or something so they can see it's gone and out of reach at the end. Then some dreamies and they've completely forgotten all about it

She was fine within 5mins of getting home.
She’s on a different wet food now(her choices are limited because reasons). Her previous food was unavailable for an extended period due to a problem at the factory and she’s now on AVA muvita senior and seems really bouncy.
She’s being a dick at the moment so business as usual.

Ah good Trick.
I try to give them the satisfaction of catching a toy from time to time. -

Our's favourite is a bunch of feathers on the end of a string attached to a rod. It's like fishing for cats. They go nuts for it and we let them catch that one

Feathers are great. As is a small piece of paper on the end of a string. Small piece of inner tube with a knot also good.
Basically everything small and pushable.@ChainBreaker ours love grandmas mohair blanket. Something woolly to sit on is a nice change to your freshly washed linen.
And (as apartment cats) they love looking at birds from the balcony, which is secured with nets.
All kinds of shoelace whatever to chase, as above.
They quite enjoy their plastic track thing with a ball, but that gets old and then we put it away. It's often recommended to rotate toys.As for furniture, something higher up to watch you is definitely great.
I am starting a cat furniture business right now, they love one of my designs, will post more soon. Also make sure to check if your plants are safe!
We make cat grass from wheat grass (?) They love that stuff. And of course time, love and affection, loads of that!

Not a fan myself as there is no reward for them.
Yeah, we use the ‘world’s best’ stuff.
For two indoor only cats, we change the drawer once a week. The actual 6Kg bag of litter we use to top it up last about twice as long as it used to. Probably one of those a month rather than one every two weeks.
