Oh I like a triple. Zingy like a 4, wobbly like a twin.

More people want a finished campervan compared to those who want a project, and those who want a project usually don’t want a half done project.
The market for campers is good and they’re in demand so surely it’ll be worth getting the work done.

Talking of camper vans, my insurance last year was £700, just got the renewal quote which is a rather punchy £1,900.

I think this is due to Financial Conduct Authority legislation that came in this year.
Premiums charged to all renewing home and private motor insurance customers by their insurance provider now cannot be greater than the price they would charge to an equivalent new customer for the equivalent policy.
So, naturally, prices are up for everyone.

Interesting, I went via Moneysupermarket and got a quote of £703 from Aviva, put the same details into my Aviva portal (my current pension is with them) and got £1,600.

Cheers @Tom13 @Nef, you’re both right. Just need to get my head round putting money and time into it so i can shift it easily.
Values are decent but you do need to speculate to accumulate and it needs a couple of grand at least to finish to an easily sellable standard. Twice that if I want top dollar.

Haha, i've been dodging this one so my girlfriend doesn't get any ideas about driving mine. She has happy memories of her dad driving her round Japan in one.

Then definitely don't watch this film together. Though to be fair if your g/f has a similar back story to the driver on the film I think you might let her take the wheel. At least from time to time

I don't know dude. not made clear by the film. And I thought it strange it was a left hooker.
Sp little talk about the car in the film but so many amazing and lovely shots of it in action. Trying to avoid spoiler alert but it was never driven in anger. Just lovely navigating of various scenes.

It's only following watching the film I have read and learned from YouTube a lot more about Saabs approach to the turbo and low end torque. Some awesome engineering.
But for all that my head is turned at the moment by an early 1970s French mobile. Watch this space

I keep on getting tempted by the idea of buying a Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharger (the L320 5 litre facelife model). I don't need a Range Rover Sport really. I just fancy one. Please feel free to persuade me it's a terrible idea, as I have this nagging feeling that it'd be a terrible idea.

We will deflate one or more of your tires.

5 liters. In a car.
Is it 1929? 😁
-
• #73116
It's a terrible idea dude. My RR obsessed brother never gets the joy out of them he thinks they will bring. They never do.
That nagging feeling that it might be shit. That's the one. Let that guide you.

Cunt cars. You will not change my mind.

Honestly. Great idea.
Do it too make my horrific decision to feel better.

Range Rovers have this weird hold over people. Everyone knows they’re appallingly unreliable, everyone knows they’re so common that no one is impressed by them, everyone knows 75% of people think anyone who drives one is a twit. Yet people can’t stop buying them because they feel much fancier than anything else until you get to a Rolls Royce or Bentley.
If you’re getting one it clearly has to be the 5.0, any man without a five litre car is really no kind of man at all.

I've already got one 5 litre car. Just think how manly owning two would make me. I'd be as manly as Burt Reynolds swimming in a lake of pure Brut 33.

I imagine they put the NA 6.2 in the G63 at some point, so 5 litres is fairly restrained in context.
-
• #73122
Do you? The RS6? I thought it was the V8 for some reason.
-
• #73123
Nope, 5 litre V10 twin turbo. The C6 version.
-
• #73124
5 litres with a blower though in the RRS.
-
• #73125
Yeah, I don’t know if they put the atmospheric 6.2 in the G wagon- they certainly put the 5.5 litre supercharged engine in it, then the 5.5 litre twin turbo, but not sure if they decided that forced induction was required for the basically brick shaped body.
R32 has a very linear set of power/torque curves I think so just feels kind of flat. You get folk giving similar feedback on few motorbikes (triumph triples) saying they just feel lifeless, when in reality you actually really want a smooth predictable engine that doesn't have any giant cliff like jumps in power/torque, keeps you from being ended.
