You could try giving Aktiva in Kentish town a call, there B-line pendant is similar and i suspect both cheaper and a better fitting. It doesn't have the built in dimming but Aktiva may have something in there options box - https://aktiva.co.uk/product/b-line-pendant-linear-pendant-lighting-aktiva-2/
What's it for?

Would be to have over dinner table or kitchen island (currently undecided)

I have these in every room in my house. They were meant to be temporary whilst we decided what we wanted but have been up for two years now.

Darf or Ello from Wever & Ducre?

If the room lacks daylight then the lack of uplight will be an issue in the day IMO. If it goes over a dinner table then you'll definitely want dimming as these are office fittings that kick out a lot of light. Bare in mind with these slim line pendants that more often than not the driver is remote and will either need to be mounted on or above the ceiling.

Still one of the cheapest/best ways to light general spaces

2 years is nothing 🤪 Should be good for 20 at least.

Yeah we’re having new ceiling so driver can be placed in ceiling. Current plan is orluna air fixed above the island and pendant above the table. We will have wall lights in dining room and recessed spots (dimmable) in kitchen and dining room. Yes dimmer was wanted - I’ll drop them an email and see what they say.

Unless I’m doing bad google- these are 1k+ 🤪

oops my bad. could you not commission dbr ? its only an undercounter led strip set in some kind of tube / pole and the driver in the ceiling. Even some nice bits of oak sandwiched up like a mini I beam ? etc etc . I thought about it once - drew some stuff and then never did anything.

orluna air fixed
Great fittings, sound like you have your bases covered. To be frank a lot of these slim line pendants probably won't be nice to sit under at the dining table at night. Despite the low glare claims they're often direct lighting from a narrow source without any diffusion. I'd be leaning towards something with more diffusion and uplight as that'll really benefit you in the day. Alternatively make a statement with whatever you think looks best but have some supplementary lighting so you are not dependant on it to light the space. I don't do resi but my general comment to architects and interior designers for commercial spaces is you can spec whatever the fuck you want as it won't be doing any muscle work.

God I really need a stunningly large injection of cash so I can stop being miserable and start sorting this house out.

This is my go to thread for reassuring my inadequacy. That and wondering if I'm in the wrong job.

Would it be possible to do this in stainless steel rather than Oak?
-
• #4671
Possibly, I don’t think it would look that good though. Bit cold for my taste.

On the subject of lights we've been wanting to replace our bedroom light for ages. It uses funny old halogen bulbs and as my OH has her WFH desk in there the lights are on all day.
Room is 3.3x3.6m, light is central, ceiling is only 2.4m, and they don't want a desk lamp. We aren't really too fussed about it being too bright as in the evenings we use side lamps if we're in there.
Inexpensive with kid century vibes and easy to find bulbs is the dream.

A bit late to this but thanks for the recommendation.

Cheers, that rooms such a mess!
Its a Samsung Serif TV so legs and frame come as one.
