Outrageous. The remainer establishment thwarting the will of the people.

potentially leading to prosecution/deportation
I hadn't even considered this bit. As @Stonehedge says this might be a catalyst for a changing of attitudes or even the law if he gets a high-profile exception.

There is a trafficking victim to be deported to Rwanda, right now.
I know a trafficking victim, they did get the right to stay, but didn't even get the right to work/study, and just Universal Credit.
If his story helps change the law, that would be great.

Bill Gates vows to drop off the rich list while privately funding stuff that governments should be doing. If he had any morals he'd spend his money to make the US a fairer country rather than paying people's medical bills.

I'm a little suprised that some people automatically assume that Farah told his story for personal gain.

At the expense of his work in Africa? I know where I'd divert my resources...

Because he is famous maybe?
Book deals, movie deals... so I suppose some people think he's doing it for £
I look at this as him finally being able to tell the truth.
Hopefully he can make it clear that for other trafficking victims thing don't work out well because they are not high profile.

I hadn't even considered this bit.
It really should have been one of the first things that occurred to everybody hearing the story. What he has done has put him under huge public and police scrutiny. He has cited as witnesses teachers, social workers and adoptive family members who are all now under the same scrutiny and also risk prosecution (even deportation in the case of that family).
As Stonehedge says this might be a catalyst for a changing of attitudes or even the law if he gets a high-profile exception.
@Stonehedge 's other reasonable explanation (I didn't say or mean to imply there were only two) is plausible but I wouldn't demand that be his motivation, having the privilege of not being in his situation. @hugo7 even offers an explanation to satisfy the cynical without resorting to conspiracy theories. The burden of proof here is on the conspiracy theorist; as things stand, they face quite the challenge.
I'm a little suprised that some people automatically assume that Farah told his story for personal gain.
@Stonehedge He can have multiple motivations, even start with one and the others then occur to him.

For the record my cynical comment was meant to be banter rather than me thinking he's doing it for promo.
My gut says there are a few reasons he's doing it, but the main one is that he probably feels comfortable with coming out. I can also well imagine he's fed up of spinning stories to his kids who have probably interrogatrd him more than anyone else.

Perhaps he's fucking fed up of seeing the state of the British government at its attitudes to humans just wanting to be safe. I'm livid and sick. I can't imagine the shame on his shoulders and the freedom speaking out has granted him. Perhaps he's seen people like Marcus Rashford and the incredible power he's wielded and thought he can and should also be a force for good. I damn well hope he can do something. Good for him. What a tragic life he's had as a kid.

Truss is the greatest gift to the Labour Party imaginable.
Two reasonable explanations:
The most remarkable thing about his life is going from civil war refugee to domestic slave to famous Olympic sportsman. There's nothing remarkable about this placing him in the situation he now faces.
