Nice. Malham?
Terrible bike the way who'd ride one of those.

Stanage. Almost killed myself coming down the Stanage plantation descent. Not been that way before. Need to learn my lesson about maybe scoping out a trail rather than just chucking myself headlong down it, especially when it turns out to be half ice and half river.
Bike’s a piece of crap, yeah. What a waste of money. ;-)

Nice!

Haha my average speed mountain biking is probably 5kph. I'd need a week to ride 336mi :D
I'll check out the vid though. Still thinking of riding that 24hr this year instead of the 12hr TT.

Think that's how much I rode last year
Curious to know how technical that course was

For anyone who’s been to the 7 Staines centres recently are any worth a visit if in Edinburgh? Ideally one with bike hire as my EV will throw a fit if I drove to Edinburgh with bikes on the roof, and ideally some kid friendly bits like a pump track?

For bike hire & (relatively) kid friendly you probably want Glentress - I saw some sort of skills zone there and plenty of kids around. There's a Go Ape there too...
Personally can't wait to get back to Golfie but it's probably not very kid friendly, and nothing in the way of facilities. -

I’ve only been to Glentress but I really liked it. There’s bike hire at the base and the hotel just by the entrance to the site has some sort of e-bike hire thing going on, very nice people also.

From glentress you can ride along old railway line to Cardrona which has a fun pumptrack.

Definitely check what the storm damage is like before you decide. Lots of trails are closed.

Got a spare DH stem? Got an enduro bike with no stem? If the answer to both of those questions is yes then we've got you covered.

What is a DH stem and what is an Enduro stem? (and I guess, what is this thing above)
-
• #23444
DH would be a direct mount to the triple crown of the fork, enduro would usually be the standard steerer clamp. I've no idea why this exists.
-
• #23445
DH stems (the brown bit in the image) mount directly to the top of the upper crown on a DH fork. Enduro stems are normal stems designed to clamp on a steerer. This gadget seems to adapt a DH stem to a normal fork.
Could be useful for someone who has a Norco Range for example and wants to swap between double crown and normal forks without fitting a new stem and having to re-set bar roll etc. Very niche though. -
• #23446
Aha, yes. Now I remember searching ebay for DH stem for my pub bike and having to be careful not to order direct mount DH stem.
-
• #23447
Ta. Yep I can picture it in my feeble brain now. Triple crown forks will never be a thing in my life other than for a joke.
-
• #23448
Triple clamp DH forks have a lower axle to crown than e.g. a Zeb, at the same travel. There’s an American chap using a DH frame for Enduro who has found he has to use a 190* Zeb to match the 200mm DH fork IIRC, so you’d have to tread carefully with the geo if doing that.
* Might be 180

Sure, hence it being a very niche product.
Not the kind of thing you want at such high pressure between your legs.
